Oklahoma State already has three commitments for the 2011 class now that touted QB J.W. Walsh from Denton, Texas, committed to sign with Oklahoma State late Monday night, InsideTexas.com reports.

Walsh completed 185 of 286 attempts (64.7 percent) for 2,599 yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions as a junior. Walsh also carried 168 times for 1,554 yards (9.3 average) and 22 more scores. Reportedly, Texas and OU have shown interest but not offered Walsh.

Per Bruce Feldman.

I'm not one to stalk 17 year olds, but if I recall from GoBR's posts, he's one of the top QB's in Texas and a Longhorn target. I think next year's QB class is likely to be scared off by the Gilbert-Wood-McCoy triumvirate, but that's just my three cents.

Can't Hook Em all

But it’s VERY early…heh, heh, heh.

I just finished reading "The Eyes of Texas"...I'm a slow reader.

Agreed on QBs next winter

Might get one, but whoever it is would be GUARANTEED a redshirt season and might be a one-year starter and that years up the line.

Still, if Mack Brown says “Come on down,” he might come. I think a QB every signing class is a good idea. Either they’ll weed themselves out, or occasionally one can play another position.

More recruiting news per ESPN because I'm bored and it's the end of the day

ATH Keenan Allen may decommit from Alabama to hang out with his brother, who’s planning to transfer from Buffalo to either Cal or Clemson.

TE Alex Smith, HS teammate of Jordan Hicks, switches his commitment to Kentucky.

ATH Jarrett Fobbs decommits from Aggies, pledges LSU.

S Eric Dungy, son of Tony Dungy, is quacking with the Ducks after turning down a greyshirt at FSU, his dad’s alma mater.

And the big one…RB Marcus Lattimore is about to announce any second between Auburn and SC.

Whatever, I don’t care that much. I’m goin’ homes.

you're right, thanks

Thought I’d read that somewhere but was incorrect. Dungy apparently wanted to go to FSU until they offered a greyshirt instead of full scholly.

Yeah, I reported on Allen in another thread

It looks like Allen is looking at Cal or Penn State, while his bro is supposed to be headed to Clemson.

Meh.

Commitments by juniors in high school don’t mean a whole lot, especially when they’re to places like Okie State. If Texas/OU offers him, I’m fairly certain he’ll at least take a look. Some players just commit and then change commitments when they get better offers.

Walsh either hadn't received or accpeted a Junior Day offer

from Texas, perhaps in part because the staff is targeting Belton’s David Ash, with whom Greg Davis reportedly spent a lot of time talking after the summer camp last year and who is confirmed to be coming to a Junior Day.

Honestly, I’ve thought about this a lot and the three quarterbacks in the two classes ahead of Ash and Walsh means that if Texas does receive a quarterback commitment in 2011, it will be from a guy who is basically going to be an insurance policy in case of catastrophe, especially since both Wood and McCoy are expected to redshirt. Point being, I’ve felt for some time that Walsh in particular is best served by attending college somewhere — he’s that good and deserves to have a chance to be a multi-year starter at a major program. I absolutely love the kid as a quarterback and think he could be an All-Conference performer in the Big 12 if Okie Lite can put some skill position talent around him.

I wish him the best of luck and think that he will end up being a difficult player for the Texas defense to deal with. Good thing they’re going to have guys like Jackson Jeffcoat, Reggie Wilson, Tevin Jackson, and Jordan Hicks.
