2 Major Bombshells...USC gets 2 years, Texas to Big 10 in '12
Is this source credible?
USC headed for 2 year probation with no TV.
Texas Moves to Big 10 In 2012... Announcement Pending
This is the first exposure I have had with this source so you might have more insight than I, however the smoke has been swirling on each of these issues for a couple of months now and inidicators point to a hint of reality.
I like you have read several posting opinions, predicitions, and pending peril but this is the most blatant announcement I've seen yet. Big 10? Pac 10? Where does Aggie go? etc. etc.
Could it be possible the NCAA has found it's big stick and wields a beatdown on the Trojans? Have they become relevant again regarding sanctions on recruiting violations?
Please let me know what you think of the source and what if?

Interesting.
I can easily believe the USC side of it. Texas and the Big Ten . . .?
I worked in the news business for 35 years and never heard of this “outlet”, Sportales. Both stories are totally without named sources or even “loose descriptions” of the sources; that makes me STRONGLY doubt their credibility.
Saw this last night
and immediately dismissed it as bogus. They include no sources to the Big Ten move.

As much as I'd love to start taking a victory lap . . .
. . . this doesn’t pass the smell test.

Yeah, I think you and I have some sort of bet
We’ll have to dig that up at some point. Anyway, I too doubt that these reports are accurate.

No sources
They also report Albert Pujols retiring. ESPN has him talking with new hitting coach McGuire today.

I smell bogus
Banning USC from TV would mean that the USC-Notre Dame game wouldn’t be televised.
proud to swim home
Yeah, that's what it would mean
And I suspect the NCAA won’t go that far . . . bowl and schollies, yes.
What's weird about this . . .
. . . is that it’s enough of a well-read site to receive a fairly high number of comments, so there must be some people out there who already knew of this site and read it, but very few seem to get the “joke,” if that is indeed what it is.

After finding out one of my neighbors is a practicing witch
it wouldn’t surprise me if there are people who flock to bogus message boards.

FALSE
They are also reporting that Randy Moss has been traded to Green bay… Hope you got your boots on, dont step in the BS
"Texas Till I Die"
Speaking of punishing USC, what do you folks think the punishment should be?
For the football team, loss of three scholarships for two years, and a one-year post-season ban?
For the basketball team, loss of two scholarships for two years and NCAA/NIT tournament ban for two years?
I honestly don’t expect that much, but that would seem to line up in degree to other punishments in the past.

it will be a slap on the wrist
USC makes too much money for the greedy suits. Or they will come down hard then pull it back after USC appeals. that way it looks like it was harsh but doesnt hurt their pockets.
"Texas Till I Die"
I agree that it will probably be a slap on the wrist
But I’m interested in seeing what other people think would be the appropriate punishment.

Punishment
They should have to live in Oklahoma for 6 months out of the year for the next 3 years.

Living out here in LA . . .
. . . I would say, let them stay, but make them wear Fresno State apparel any time they go out in public.

They should be required to go fisting, and eat their harvest as sashimi.

Isn't it called noodling?
Unless you’re talking about fisting, which is either gross, or I need to know the other meaning that you’re talking about.

There are many names for it
And in both places I grew up (Texas and Kansas), we watched across the border with raised eyebrows and shaking heads.

Wait...are you calling me a hillbilly?
I’m from Kansas. Our hills don’t have billies.
I have heard it called catfisting, or fisting for short, more often than I’ve heard it called noodling. I can only assume that the terms are regional, because the only people I’ve met who have done it have been guys I knew while I was in the army. At least, those are the only people I’ve been aware have done it.

I knew about noodling
but I was hoping your “fisting” had something to do with a homosexual oklahoma thing. Either way, it woulda fit the okies.
"homosexual oklahoma thing"?
Let’s not go there. There’s no reason to use homosexuality as a way of denigrating okies when there are so many legitimate ways to do so.

After the SMU death penalty
the NCAA has pretty much made it policy to investigate hard — and makes threats with teeth behind closed doors — but not do much of anything that would impact competing schools. There was (is?) some concern that SMU’s problems helped push the SWC out of existence — I don’t buy that one.
But the thought process seems to be to punish the offender in such a way as to minimize the fallout to fellow conference members or schools which are on the offending team’s schedule the year or two after the punishment takes effect.
Given that, taking USC off TV hurts non-con opponents like Notre Dame, as well as Pac-10 members. Scholarship cuts, yes. Basketball ought to be really nailed. I’d guess a two-year bowl ban, maybe appealed down to one, and the same for NCAA Tournament participation in hoops. May also be a fine of some sort, perhaps spread around to conference members.
I don't trust any site that doesn't get rid of spamming comments
You’ll notice that the first 10 or so comments in their articles are OBVIOUS SPAMS, but the site left them anyway. That means two things for those in the online biz: 1) they want comments, even if it’s bogus, to inflate the popularity of their articles; 2) there is no quality control.
In-VINCE-able.
We win that division in the B10 every year. That’s a guaranteed slot into the conference championship game. Because of the weakness of the B10 division we’d be in, we could also continue to schedule OU and A&M every year without worry. I like it.
Maybe I'm just not a traditionalist...
…but I don’t really care about playing OU or ATM every year. Really, I don’t see the point, especially ATM, which is almost always shitty every year, and only serves as a trap game for us year in and year out. Beating them never gets us anything, but losing to them loses us everything. OU I can get behind — they’re always a power every year, too, so beating them strengthens our SOS. But hey, my investment in UT doesn’t go beyond the years I attended, so maybe I’m just not that heavily invested, emotionally and time-wise, as you guys are with these rivalries, but I just don’t care about ATM. As in, AT ALL.
In-VINCE-able.

Aggies
If you have to work with (or even socialize) with Aggies, you should know why it is important to beat them as often as possible.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
You read my mind.
Encountering so many aggies each & every day requires that we keep them in their lowly place with yearly beatings from UT on the football field. I have absolutely no problems with TX kids signing on to play at aggie. However, I consider any kids traitors that sign on with the suckin’ sooners. Straight traitors. ou is the evil empire in so many ways.
If Texas realigned to another conference, they MUST drag a&m along. We went so long in the SWC w/out ou that it almost seems odd to have ’em in the same conference now. Having ’em in conference now only encourages them to raid the state for Texas kids.
Just Wondering
when VY gets the Hiesman he earned honestly on the football field?
