Looks like they are saving #4 for D. White.

So Chiles takes Brandon Collins' #5, freeing up #7 for Gilbert
Brewster gets Kindle’s old number, Goodwin gets Shipley’s, McCoy gets Hales’, Hales gets Gilbert’s #3, Wood takes a number that was vacant on offense (E. Acho’s on defense), and White takes Beasley’s.
Looks like they’re leaving Colt’s #12 open as well. Maybe a sign of jersey retirement?

Nope, he doesn't meet the criterion for being named national player of the year
Colt did, at least thrice over (two Walter Camps, one Maxwell).

Can't wait to see...
Jordan Hicks, Jackson Jeffcoat, Taylor Bible, Ashton Dorsey, Mike Davis, Traylon Shead, Dom Espinosa, etc, etc,
I would think Jeffcoat keeps #42, but it appears Hicks HS #32 is locked up by Eddie Jones.
I think Tevin Jackson will just rip whichever one he wants off someone’s back if it’s allready taken. :)
I would guess yes
Two O’Brien awards, and the winningest QB in Div. 1 history (which the Boise State QB will eclipse if he stays healthy).
I'm glad Gilbert changed number...
I can’t get used to watching a #3 at QB. It just looks kind of out of place to me.
Uh, the quintessential QB # is 12 - Roger Staubach.
Starting to show my age. Colt revived the vaunted #12 ‘perfect qb’ for me.
#16 isn't so bad either

Anyone notice DJ Grant is #18 as well
Three people listed at the number right now.

I was looking for further attrition.
Could have missed somebody, but the only deletions (besides seniors) I see are Payne and Cobb.

speaking of MB-TF...
Are they ever going to get players’ 2009 highlights up? Seems kinda slow to me
So glad that McCrary got that preferred walk-on status
And that he gets to stay on the team. Regardless of if he ever plays, it says a lot about the coaches, and is probably great for Gilbert as well.
Someone had to be his roommate.

Not sure I was privy
to the McCrary story. Liches seemed sad to see him there, as do a few others…mainly because he is taking up a schollie or what’s the deal?
I think it's pleasantly surprised you're reading.

Who is it?
Are you trying to be that oh so clever jerk you often are on this site?
Which is it?
Am I trying to be that oh so clever jerk, or am I the oh so clever jerk?
Judging by this:
I am glad to see McCrary on the roster.
“pleasantly surprised” seems accurate.

Oh I gotcha
I didn’t know if ‘it’ was referring to me or the quote. My bad.
Why do you suposse that I'm sad to see him there?
I am glad to see McCrary on the roster. I hope he has a chance to be part of this team and take a schollie. That’s why I pointed him. It would be a great history.
Did he necessarily get a scholarship?
He got preferred walk-on status last year… which means you can still make the team, but you don’t necessarily get a scholarship. Can anyone else shed light on this?
Being a preferred walk on does not give you a scholarship.
It merely means that you have an invitation to come and try out and will more than likely help on the practice squad. Now it is not unusual for a scholarship to be granted to a guy who was/is a preferred walk on barring that they perform well in practice or an actually help the team. However, if that were to happen for McCrary, he would have to overcome some tough odds to beat out our current depth at WR or it would take place in his final year when scholarships are usually awarded to players like him in appreciation from the coaches for the hard work.

Thanks for clarifying for us CoachEtch!
I don’t see him beating out our WR core but I’m sure crazier things have happened
Derek Johnson
How can you not root for a kid with a smile like this.

"I live in the tower with Coach Brown." -Bevo
I've been rooting for him anyway
Obviously he’s a Longhorn, so I’d do it regardless, but the report that the mysterious absence last summer appears to have been a time when he went and got married and is expecting a child…well, I think it’s hard not to root for a kid who has that on his plate, but still seems to be working hard for a top football team.
