USC gets their QB of the future after signing day. He's 13 and won't be enrolled until 2015.
Good for the kid but.... can Lane Kiffin be any more of a creeper?

How can you predict a 13 year old at QB?!?
There has to be something more to this.
This has happened before at USC, I think.
I remember reading something about that a few years ago with Pete Carrol.

Is that Lane Kiffin signing?

Either that or the devil
They’re both scrawling their marks on an LOI.

Why would the coach say this?
Clarkson said Kiffin asked him his opinion of the recruit and Clarkson said, "You might call me crazy, but you’ve known me a long time, right? And when I said if there was going to be a LeBron James of football it’d be Jimmy Clausen that turned out to be a pretty good prediction.
How is that a good prediction that leads credence to your name? He was an average to above average QB in college football…but Lebron like? Me thinks not.
Dude, hold up
Did you not see Jimmy Clausen in the USC game this year? That dude embodies clutch.

And/or being clutch in it does not define a career. You really want to say comparing Clausen to James is accurate?
I ask again...
Did you watch the USC/Notre Dame game this year?
Because if you did, you would know that my comment was complete sarcasm.

Aren't the Kiffen-led Trojans scheduled to be on probation by then?
Not sure if they’ll have enough available scholarships to offer . . .

Against competition his level he looks great
He looks like he’s putting the ball just where it needs to be for the most part. Part of that though is that he’s a 6’ 13 year old. You just don’t see to many of those.
TEXAS FIGHT
Todd Marinovitch
He signed early too.

Creepo
Then again, Billy Donovan secured the commitment of Austin Rivers (Doc Rivers’ son) when kid was in 8th grade. Rivers is now primed to be a top 10 prospect for the class of 2011.
Basketball
Recruiting in that sport is a little creepier than different from recruiting in football.

creepy yes...
but I pray to tebow that we have already gotten verbals from Aaron Ross and Sanya Richards’s first born, second born, and third born. So I really have no room to judge this article.
It's a giant publicity stunt, basically.
When Kiffin got to Tennessee, he did the same thing with Eric Berry’s 15 year-old brother. He’s just promoting the Kiffin brand by getting himself in the news. And for better or worse, crap like this seems to work because freaking Lil’ Wayne name checked him in a song not too long ago (“Rock my hat to the side like I paint pictures / smoke weed, talk shit like Lane Kiffin” — not his best line, but I doubt Kiffin cares).
He’s intentionally developing a cult of personality by doing increasingly insane things (though, to be honest, I sort of love the shit-talking aspect of it). It’s something I’ve never really seen before in college football (though I’m too young to remember Switzer’s recruiting heyday, Kiffin does seem to have a similar personality) and it’s nothing if not interesting.
Regardless, every time we all get outraged at everything Kiffin says and does, he gets another notch on his belt. It’s better to just laugh at the absurdity of it all and move on.
Apparently there's no such thing as bad publicity
I think Kiffin has noticed that these little secondary violations, even a huge number of them, weren’t going to result in anything bad for him at Tennessee, and are even less likely to result in negative consequences at USC.

Kiffin hasn't exactly backed up his talk.
He’s like the attractive girl at work. Flirty, attractive, but not very good at her job with sub-level smarts. She has everyone fooled. People sometimes equate attractiveness with competence and intelligence. Before anyone can figure it out, she leaves and gets a better job. Finally someone figures it out, but by that time she has left a trail of havoc.
Carly Fiorina formerly at HP comes to mind…and Kiffin.
Kiffin strikes me
as a childish and brash person. I absolutely despise him and his shit-talking. In my opinion, he acts more like a young player than a young coach. Maybe the kids like that about him, but when something goes wrong, there’s no divide that makes coach look unassailable. If they don’t start winning games, and fast, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear little snippets of locker room trouble start cropping up before the whole thing spirals out of control. I really hope that something, anything, comes out that gets him absolutely creamed by the NCAA. I’m not going to write an article about what a toolbag he is or anything, but there’s nothing I see wrong with simply hoping like hell that he gets disgraced and tanks his career.
I think it is a smart publicity stunt move
But I also think that the kid should hold him to it. If the kid gets hurt, doesn’t pan out, no matter what let USC honor its commitment to the kid and waste the schollie since they made the deal.
And let me add that my money is on the kid
He probably has a better chance of being at USC in 2015 than Kiffin does.
Keeping it 100
The kid can flat out throw. His QB coach has prepared a player like Barkley to become a rivals #1 player and has stated Sill has shown more ability than any other player he’s coached. The kid is 13 but is already 6 ft tall. He is a man amongst boys and I have to give credit to Kiffin for already getting him to committ. I’m pretty sure this was his dream school getting a early offer was hard to pass up. He might flake in high school but from highlights he looks like the real deal.
What sort of inducements is Kiffin offering?
A personalized Wii and free trips to Disneyland? A Hanna Montana photo session? A red and gold skateboard?
