PB Talks Football On The 'In The Bleachers' Podcast
Do you want to talk about the basketball team today?
Yeah, me neither. But I did spend a half hour talking football with Michael on the In The Bleachers podcast. Head on over for a listen, as we talk about the Combine, Spring Football, the 2010 Longhorns, and Colt McCoy's legacy.

Hard from afar
Once I move back to Austin I’ll be at the Disch every chance I get.
You ain't hurt...
Thanks
for coming on PB. You’re welcome to come talk football anytime. Next visit I’ll make sure my Buckeye co-host Rob Harley can join the show.
Yeah BoYeeEEeeE
I miss EDSBS podcasts every Tuesday during football season
This will suffice for the time being. Thanks PB and ITB for this.
Stumpy: It's called the '80s. Ford was president, Nixon was in the White House, and FDR was running this country into the ground.
Basketball
Check out the game summary thread. We’ve got a couple of cute new trolls to play with.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.

Not like a Tim Tebow, PR, manufactured smile.
From a fan perspective, Tim does seem a little disingenuous at times. But he has earned respect as a person given his contributions to various community concerns. A lot of athlete’s give of their free time. It’s too bad that some get more spotlight than others. Hat tip to all the young guys making a difference for the less fortunate.
Nice job on the combine recap. Sounds like you have come to grips with how cyncism can set in when your job is a drudgery (re: NFL Pressman).
We have seen Christian play a down of football, although it has been a few years. And we’re excited about his explosiveness from what we observed. This from your post-game react after the 2008 Kansas game. My memory abilities are fading these days but I remember distinctly the his two big payback hits that very windy/cold day in Lawrence.
Emerging Stars Watch: Christian Scott, Malcolm Williams, Brandon Collins. Let’s start with Scott, who replaced Gideon and immediately played the best half of football any Texas safety has all season. I don’t think that’s an exaggeration. On his first play from scrimmage, he smacked Quigley like he was wielding a freaking folding chair. He subsequently forced a fumble, nearly made an interception, and flew around the field like he was Michael Huff. If that’s a foretaste of the feast to come, there’ll be no choice but to start him.
Agree with you that word is still out regarding his field awareness but can’t wait to see that hitting machine come fall especially with a possible chip on his shoulder (hope you’re reading this Landry Jones).
Regarding the defensive 3-4 possibility, makes sense if your job is to prepare young college football players for the NFL as we are seeing more pro teams move to that set.
Uniquely Texas was a nice setup to discuss our recruiting advantage. Limited in-state competition was a great answer. Junior days are a critical part of the process but so is Mack’s marketing strategy of youth campers, guest speakers, and high school coach PR efforts. But agree that most important is the tradition of winning that Mack has brought to the program combined with the number of athletes that have been promoted to the next level ($).
Regarding the coach in waiting anti-recruiting rule being suspended for a year, I wonder if President Powers sent a slight message to the NCAA they had better back off and review or be subjected to a lawsuit?
Finally, appreciate the fashionable under-estimation commentary of Colt at the next level That label has followed the all-time winningest CFB quarterback in history since day one. Questions.will.be.answered. (Had to drop my homer statement.)
Thanks for the juicy off-season programming. A good bit of lube for the upcoming very dry off-season.
