Texas Defensive Coordinator
One thought that came across my mind: when the Muschamp era becomes official at Texas, who becomes our defense coordinator? I know Coach Boom will still have his hands on it, but do we hire a body for the sake of having a DC, go after a up-and-coming DC, or does Muschamp have a young protege (maybe in the DII ranks) we don't know about yet?

Did you say DII??
You put it in your post so something has to make you believe it would be possible…would you care to explain? Texas is a pretty big-time job for someone to make straight from Division 2, thats why I ask.
Throw Ya Horns, Mayne
You're right
But if Muschamp has that much confidence about the guy, I’m sure we’ll be fine.

Muschamp got his start in a lower classification
Probably the reason for an assertion like that.

muschamp
was from D-2 i believe valdosta state. i think somebody like kirby smart if he’s not a head coach already.
Maybe so...
But Muschamp had D1 and even NFL experience before coming to Tx. I don’t think pulling in a D2 coach would be wise, even if Muschamp had his hands all over the defense. I would worry the coach would get overwhelmed without much major D1 experience.
Understandable
but Muschamp was an unknown when LSU hired him. Don’t get me wrong, LSU isn’t Texas but it’s still a football school. Getting a well-known up-and-coming coordinator means we’ll have to worry every offseason when head coaching vacancies come up. And we can’t throw a HCIW on him because Muschamp is too young.

He wasn't initially hired to be the DC at LSU
He was a position (LB) coach first, and later became the DC. And of course LSU doesn’t have the same standards Texas does in coaching resume, it seems. LSU hires up-and-comer. Texas hires up-and-been-there.

And to add
We’re Texas. We can get just about anyone in the country. I’d rather get an up and coming coaching star than an unknown.
That method has paid dividends for us
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
