Updated LSR 100 3/16
Some very big jumps for Texas commits:
Sheroid Evans from #14 to #2
Quandre Diggs #26 to #8
Kendall Thompson #34 to #15
Target Quincy Russell jumped from #68 to #20.
Taylor Doyle dropped from #40 to #60, which should quiet any talk that committing to Texas = instant rankings bump.
Comments
It's kind of odd to see such jumps when they haven't done anything in the meantime
The jumps must just be based on additional footage found or the desire to change for the sake of change.
Looks like Mykkele Thompson made the list this time.

evans is probably moving up due in part to his track results, winning nationals in the 200 and 400 as a junior isn’t easy. the others i dont know

I think a lot of it is junior film
For instance, Rivals didn’t have the junior film on Thompson until Suchomel or someone went out there to pick it up in the last week and a half.
Actually thought Thompson might make more of a leap because he looked so similar offensively to LaDarius Brown.
Rivals just got the junior film on Russell as well and he looked impressive.
I think Evans is more about Ketchum falling in love with him, either because of his track results recently — as DL mentions, winning junior nationals in two events — or because of some film that isn’t released yet, because the early highlights don’t show much. Not sure I would rank him in front of Edmond or Flowers at this point, but his speed is certainly unbelievable.

They are definitely comparable in terms of being ahtletic freaks.

I'd like to see more film on him before making the comparison
From what I have seen, he doesn’t form tackle nearly as well as Williams, but he’s clearly faster. It looks like the coaches may look at him at cornerback, possibly nickel back, so the comparison may be apt there, but I still see him as a free safety because he could use his range so much better from that spot in the field than cornerback, but some of this may depend on where some other guys end up. Whether or not Adrian Phillips is a cornerback, for instance.
Back to the Williams comparison, Evans is the fastest player in his age group in the country in the 200 and 400, so I don’t think there is any question that he’s faster than Williams. Ketchum makes comparisons for all those guys on the LSR, but I think it’s always that useful — to me, it’s better to just consider both of those players on their own merits because they are such singular talents.

Drop for Leroy Scott as well
- => #15 => #22.
These rankings are worthless (not that I have superior knowledge about where Scott should be ranked; I just mean that rankings are inaccurate this early).
Scott dropping
I think it is a result of a lot of really talented guys surfacing and some consistency/finishing interceptions issues. I would compare it to what happened with Adrian White last year, but much more mildly at this point. Scott is still considered the best cover corner in the state and that doesn’t look likely to change at this point.

My sentiment as well
Not every class contains an Aaron Williams or a Chykie Brown. If we can sign the top corners in Texas and put them to work with Akina and Muschamp, we’ll be just fine.
Uncommitted top 30
Malcolm Brown* – RB – 1
Aaron Green* – RB – 7
Anthony Wallace – LB – 9
Ladarius Brown – Ath – 10
Cedric Reed* – DE – 13
Hershel Simms – RB – 19
Quincy Russel* – DT – 20
Davonta Sparks – DB – 22
Franklin Shannon – DB – 24
Desmond Roland – Ath – 26
Marquis Anderson* – DT – 27
Plus the out-of-staters like Vaughters*, Rasco*, Turner*, Hegarty*, and Westerman*. Am I forgetting anyone? The * means we have (or obviously will) offered.
Lets say we can only have 5 of these guys……. What is your wish list?

I think mine would be Mack Brownian depth chart-eque
1) Malcolm Brown
2) Rasco OR Reed
3) Westerman OR Hegarty
4) Russel OR Anderson
5) Aaron Green (or Brandon Williams – I still haven’t given up hope!)
If we get one from each line there, I think maybe we still have 1 or 2 spots depending on attition for anyone worth waiting on (like Vaughters or Turner) or anyone who has a breakout senior year.

I like the "Mack Brownian" Approach
keeps more goodies in the stocking.

OK, this shot is probably too old for anyone to see this but....
Check out #34 – Lyndell Johnson -
Looks like Tevin Jackson had a sever allergic reaction like Will Smith in Hitch……

Also
Is # 40’s name really Miketavious? Really?

I've almost given up
The made-up names some idiotic parents will craft are ridiculous. At least Miketavious is pseudolatinic, rather than pseudofrankish like LaDarius, Lamarcus, Latwan, DeAndrew, Antwaan, etc.
And then there are the last names as yuppy first names (Reagan, Carter, Bailey, Madison, etc.)…
