Lake Travis' Michael Brewer verbally commits to Texas Tech
I guess no grey-shirt after all. Good for him. Scholarships are much cheaper than having to pay for a Texas Education. Best of luck to Brewer, except for the week we play Tech.
And for those of you who really want a good laugh to start your Sunday, feel free to check out DTN' take on how they stole him away from us.
Enjoy.

And.....
here is the link. http://www.doubletnation.com/2010/3/5/1359061/tech-gets-2011-qb
I hope they serve beer in hell.
And not everyone thinks that
Texas Tech stole Brewer. Do I think UT wanted Brewer on some level? Sure (I think I read that Davis paid him a visit). But I also think that UT had a couple of quarterbacks ahead of Brewer and Brewer took what he thought was the best option in Texas Tech.

Oh I agree completely
that at one point we were looking at Brewer like you said. And I think he can be a very good to possibly great QB. He will certainly enjoy the scholarship at Tech, and like my original post, and what dimecoverage says…we wish him the best of luck.
I hope they serve beer in hell.
Brewer is gonna be amazing! Cant believe we didnt pick him up
The best QB Tech has ever recruited
What the hell is Mack smoking?

OK, I’m quite sure that Graham Harrell was a pretty good QB for Tech. Brewer hasn’t even donned the Tech gear yet, so how can you say he’s the best QB Tech has ever recruited? He hasn’t proven anything yet. And I agree with GoBR. I’m quite content with Ash.
I hope they serve beer in hell.
Some will say that Scotty Young is the best that Tech has recruited.......
But we don’t know that yet….

yeah I hear he's a great baseball player. ;)
Kidding. And you’re right, Scotty Young will be good.
I hope they serve beer in hell.
There have been reports that he will be a dual sport athlete.......
If I remember correctly, he was offered a spot on the MLB draft. Could be stretching for information there, but I think that’s right.

I'd love for Scotty to be the best ever.
But he’s going to have to beat out Jacob Karam for that spot. The ability for Tech to load up at QB is quite mind boggling.

I watched Jacob a few times at Friendswood
and I never really got a good feel for him. I’m sure he’s quality because Tech picked up on him, but I’m not sure he’s better than Scotty.
I hope they serve beer in hell.
I honestly have no idea either.
I like to think that because he can sing and play the piano rather well at the same time that he’s going to be an excellent QB. Sadly, that’s not the case.
Next spring in Lubbock is going to be insane as far as a QB battle is concerned.

Not bad
I was thinking “Mask” however. Cher’s version, not Jim Carrey’s

No offense, greenspoint,
but why on earth would MB pass on a legacy who plays in Austin if he felt he was a better prospect than the Ash kid (who got an offer and accepted)? What would be the point of passing on Brewer for a lesser talent?
I’m not saying Mack won’t ultimately be proven wrong. Injuries, attrition, development by Brewer that UT’s coaches don’t currently see . . . lots of things that could make Brewer a star and the Longhorns regret the decision.
This staff, specifically the head coach, has done things on the recruiting front most of us thought would never be done. Following DKR’s last great recruiting haul (1976 class, many of whom played as true freshmen that year and were on an 11-1 team in ’77 and a 9-3 team in 1979), it had been two decades of inconsistent recruiting.
Maybe its just me
but greenspoint seemed to have a hint of sarcasm in his post. Just my take. I would think he knows Mack knows best.
After re-reading it, you may be right
however its hard to tell with his posts at times…lol
I hope they serve beer in hell.
They seem remarkably obsessed at DTN about whether or not they "stole" him from Texas
Puzzling. At any rate, I wish him well, and I think he made the right choice. With his lack of size and the QB’s ahead of him, he would have had a hard time ever seeing the field.

There is one dude
on DTN (TTUMAR) that can’t get it through his head that a grayshirt is different from a scholarship offer. And the implications. He is using this logic to support his idea that they “stole” him from Texas. It is kind of sad that the issue surrounding his recruitment is whether they stole him from Texas or not, instead of how he fits into the system, his strengths and weakenesses etc.
In all fairness
Seth explains it to him.
