Leach Deposition This Friday
The s*** hits the fan again...
I know some of you go to DTN, but I thought I would link it for you instead and get BON's take on the deal.
Again, there is something rotten in the state of Denmark.

This ought to make for good theatre
I’m really hoping Leach gets a chance to run the admin through the wringer. I know a lot of people on here don’t like him, and he’s given UT football fans a little bit of justification for that (voting, for example), but I think he’s getting a raw deal.
Also on the list of those whom I’d like to see come out a lot poorer after all this: Craig James. ESPN should fire him.
I have beat wholesale ass for a whole lot less.
Re: Craig James
First let me say, I don’t like him. At all. But I don’t think he should necessarily be fired from ESPN. As a parent, he was put into an almost impossible situation. Take out all the backhanded stuff he may have done and all you have is a father protecting and advocating for his son. Even with any backhanded things he may have done, he’s still a father looking after the best interest of his son. I just can’t hold that against him no matter what resources he used to get Leach fired.
As a father, I’d do whatever I could to see that my kids best interests were served. If that meant getting Leach fired, so be it.
Btw, all of that isn’t to say that Leach deserved everything the University did.
Sure you'd do whatever you could for your kids...
…but if that rises to the level of professional misconduct as it did with James, then maybe you can’t hold that against him, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t face the consequences. Do what you can for your kids, but balance the extent of efforts with their likely consequences. He should darn well know what the consequences of leveraging his position at ESPN for this purpose ought to be.

That's obviously to be left up to the legal process
So I guess all I’m saying is that I hope for some great reporting on it, and consequences that fit the actions.

Contradictory?
Craig James. ESPN should fire him.
Of course it’s left to the legal process. My point is that I’m not going to jump on either bandwagon of fire him or he should stay. I understand what he did, why he did it, and have no problems with it. If ESPN decides that they should fire him for whatever reason, then that’s their choice and I won’t begrudge ESPN for it. But I also don’t have any problems with what Craig James did under the circumstances.
Journalistic integrity be damned?

Some things are just bigger than journalism

You must be completely misunderstanding what I’m saying. If ESPN fires him, fine. I won’t have issue with it. I really don’t know how else to say that. Or are you arguing just to argue?
I'm not arguing just to argue
I’m arguing what seems to be your position: that you think he was put into an impossible situation and should not be fired for going to whatever lengths for what he perceived to be the sake of his kid. Sure, go to whatever lengths one sees fit, but that should not change the consequences of those actions.

You seem to be focusing on a single sentence
And ignoring the rest of what I’ve said.
But I don’t think he should necessarily be fired from ESPN
Here, I’ll clarify for you… I don’t think that he HAS to be fired. That’s solely my opinion. However, I’m not saying that he shouldn’t be fired. Is that clear enough? I’m not waving the flag either way. Just defending his actions as a parent. Why is that so hard to comprehend?
Simmer down
I thought several parts of what you said indicated that you thought he shouldn’t be fired for acting as a parent in the interests of his kid.
I just can’t hold that against him no matter what resources he used to get Leach fired.
