Current Pro Texas Squad
Could this team make it in the NBA? How many wins?
I think they'd be a 20-win team, getting bludgeoned by NBA bigs and lacking quality depth. Think Miami Heat before they reloaded after Shaq. They might have to start Evans to match-up. I think Tucker would need to contribute and clean up the garbage along with James. Scoring would not be the issue with Durant/Aldridge. If CJ Miles were eligible for this team, that'd be a big help.
Starters
F Lamarcus Aldridge
F Kevin Durant
G Daniel Gibson
G DJ Augustin
Reserves
F Maurice Evans
G TJ Ford
C Chris Mihm (out of retirement as a body)
G Royal Ivey
F PJ Tucker (Euro)
F Brian Boddicker (Euro)
Practice Squad
F Jordan Hamilton
G AJ Abrams

20 wins?
Thats pretty harsh… KD could win 15 by himself! The way KD and Westbrook play, im sure a more refined DJ could contribute at least another 5 wins worth of talent.

Dexter Pittman???
His ass is Kleenex soft and thats in college ball! C’mon , son! Other than that, pretty good list, man, but this just shows that Texas doesnt put out any big men. Remarkable.

Pittman's game translates better in the NBA
There hasn’t been one game this year where a college post player single-handedly stopped Pittman (including Aldrich). Pittman’s game translates better in the NBA.
Pittman stops himself
He’ll face players like Brian Davis (who eats Pittman up) only twice as good as Davis and bigger than PIttman, often times MUCH bigger. If you actually think Dex’s game translates better to the NBA then I need a translator. Unfortunately, Dex has no game other than dunking when unguarded. I pull for him as a loyal Horn fan but his future is nill in the NBA.
College<Pro
If he’s soft in college, he’s gonna be soft in the pros….the guys defending him are smarter and better athletes who he wont have a size advantage against. Being soft wont translate nowhere better except back down to the high school level. We need not to even discuss the conditioning factor nor his basketball IQ.

Pittman as a bench player
Pittman may get drafted in the NBA and was projected to be a lottery pick before this season playing 3 on 5 for most of the year and having little guys flop around him when he got the ball.
He may get drafted in the NBA, and could log 10-15 minutes a game in the NBA and be OK as a role player.
The big problem?
For a guy his size, he’s not a good rebounder. I don’t see him in the NBA due to this. He doesn’t use his size well enough to make it.

He's still a project
Someone will sign him and send him to the D league just in case he pans out.

Please help me
Im not tryin to discredit your point, but what is this assessment based on, man? I’m a pretty smart basketball guy so thats why im asking what your angle is.

I watch TV and watch him play
In our 17-0 run, people were tripping over themselves talking about how dominant Dexter was. No, as teams have sagged down and challenged UT to shoot outside and move the ball around, Dexter is no longer a good prospect? That doesn’t change the fact there are few post players like him and he’ll find a place in the NBA if he continues to stay in shape.
Thats cool
Dex is the 6th highest senior according to that particular website, but soft is still soft. Trust me, if Dex has any success in the future, i’ll be happier than a pig in slop, but until he gets better than 2 rebounds in games and missing layups, he will not find success, not in the NBA, he wont.

Maybe the evaluators are Wrong

Imagine if Dex had a point guard
What would Dex do on Oklahoma City with Durant & Westbrook? He’d do all right and have more space to operate in. When his confident is up, he’s really good. When he spent over a dozen games getting triple-teamed while Mason & Balbay stood around, he lost confidence.
This is not just my opinion. He’s the 46th best prospect on ESPN. Dexter will make an NBA team. That’s a safe bet.
Totally agree
But just as the Thunder are doing, they would have to do most of their winning against the lower tier of teams in the league.

starters
almost all were on the team that got bounced the 2nd round of the tournament (Durant, James, Augustine).
Not fair
We had a good core of freshman in Durant’s year, but we weak in the paint. Also, DJ wore down. And, Damion was inconsistant. Had PJ stayed in school, Texas would have been in the Final Four.
Gibson or Ford?
Nothing wrong with having two PGs on the floor.
