This is probably part coach speak and part protection of Colt McCoy. As much as I'd love to see Colt play this year, I think him learning from a seasoned veteran in Delhomme and from a coach who has taught Montana, Young and Favre a thing or two in Holmgren, will be good for Colt in the long run.
