Not to worry

Baseball America is in with a dose of reality – #2 behind Virginia.

I’m more interested in what our RPI is. The Big XII teams are not doing us any favors!

We're up to #4

behind Coastal Carolina, Florida, and Arizaon State.

We were #9 last week, I believe.

Arizona State

Sorry, moment of dyslexia there

well I remember another

Longhorn team that was ranked No. 1 after 17 straight wins.

I hope these players don’t get that curse.

I honestly don't think it matters at all to this team

It’s satisfying for the fans because I think everyone who has been following this team all year firmly believes that no one else is playing on the level that Texas is right now.

But with the magical (and nearly perfect) postseason these guys had last year, they know better than anyone that the real work hasn’t even begun. I don’t think they believe in streaks or peaks. I think they believe that every game demands their best. Because they came so close last year, they know what they stand to lose, and that makes them even more dangerous, IMO.

I'm watching the team BA more than the rankings

It’s up to .291 this week. It’s turning into a really good offensive team.

Don't get BA

Texas has a better record against a harder schedule and was preseason #1. I think Texas has earned the #1 spot but apparently one bad week against new mexico to start the season still hasn’t been forgiven.

That's my thought also

And it’s unusual for BA. Their m.o. is generally to do their best to make sure their preseason #1 pick stays #1.

I think Aaron Fitt’s problem is that all he’s seen of Texas this year was the Minute Maid Classic. In all of his writing, when he bothers to go into detail on Texas, he mentions that tournament and how our pitchers couldn’t get any run support and how our offense needs work. I have yet to see him acknowledge the improvement that we’ve shown at the plate, so I’m convinced he just isn’t paying attention.

The ACC is his wheelhouse, and he can’t get over the coastal division (which I’ll grant, is pretty salty) long enough to understand what Texas is doing.

Could not really care about #1 right now even though it is a nice honor.

1. Big 12 Tournament – just play well – do not have to win it (even though I expect them to win it)
2. Austin Regional
3. Super Regional in Austin
4. CWS

I agree completely with bassale47 comment above – one step at a time and not to get big heads!

What was that old song?

Back where you belong . . .

My only rankings concern is being in the top eight on Memorial Day. That should be assured at this point. Big 12 is awfully down, which bothers me because the better your competition, the better you develop your skills.

Augie-won Kenobi

If the padawans continue to take things one AB at a time like our master says, then it won’t matter what we’re ranked. We’ll just keep playing and keep playing until everyone surrenders. THEN we’ll find out what the final score was.
