Marcus Thornton to Visit Texas
The 2010 Texas basketball class got a major boost on Friday with the commitment from Cory Joseph, but the finishing touch would be adding another big to the group.
The top target appears to be 6-7 forward Marcus Thornton from Atlanta, the reigning Mr. Basketball in the state and a former Clemson commit who was released from his LOI when Oliver Purnell left. After visiting Alabama today, Thornton will head to Austin this weekend to visit with the Texas coaching staff.

Do we think he can contribute as a Freshman?

Considering how terrible Hillwangman was last season
I think that he probably can just because he will be active, rebound, and hopefully finish around the rim. If he can do those things, he can play, but honestly I haven’t done enough research on him yet to say definitively.

By keeping Hill on the Bench
simply by being ahead of Hill on the depth chart it would make him contribute more.
I think Texas is fighting uphill on this one
He’s a hot commodity now. If Cal doesn’t land Terrance Jones (he just missed on CJ Leslie), expect him to turn on the burners for Thornton. There’s also the two in-state schools, UGA and GT. And finally there’s Clemson, the school Thornton originally committed to.
I’m not holding my breath on getting Thornton in burnt orange.
