Some Nifty numbers you have there.
:)

I like...
everything Mack says you guys are doing this year. It’s an extremely busy year for me so it’s hard to keep up with either UT or UA, but as Texas is my #2 team…I just gotta let you know that I love this idea of bringing back physicality to the line. I honestly think it was something that was lost (and is still lost in Big 12 country) while Colt and his arm was around. I’m half Texan half Bama by birth, and dammit…Texas used to be mean and punch you in the mouth. Hook’em (unless we meet again in BCS fashion) ;)
Line up and pound the ball!!!! And 250 lbs men aren’t DEs…those are LBs. You’re Texas for Chrissakes…you can pick the fastest of the biggest of the best without having to leave your backyard….but, that’s my opinion. Great to see some under center work though…. :)

How many can we reasonably take this year? We had a large class sign in February.
Given the possible transfers and graduations etc, can we take the 9 guys you have listed above?
already have 19, 25 is the limit
so max they could take is 6 more, but it seems most people are thinking it will be 4 (for a total of 23). But who knows…
I bet it is more like 4 or 5
I am no GoBR, but I would love to see 2 of the 3 RBs, and an either/or from each of the other positions. But, to be honest (as long as we got either Brown or Williams) I would be fine with any combo of 4 or 5 of the above.
I think who we get from that list (or rather who we don’t get) will simply define our needs for the following year. The same way only getting 2 OL’s last year defined the need this year.

Should clarify
The first player listed at the position is the player of higher need and the second kind of a back-up or the player lower on the board. So four more players would put the ’Horns at 23, I think the preferable number for the coaches and if, say, a running back or Turner or Westerman wanted to commit late, they would probably reserve two spots (to 25) for those three major positions of need.

I would completely agree with your list
except (in a perfect world) I would want either Brown or Williams then Green at RB.

Early Christmas wish list
Malcolm Brown and Aaron Green at RB, Josh Turner, both OTs, and Reed. We’ll see how it shakes out.
The problem with taking 25 again
is that the available scholarships for 2012 and 2013 would be awfully low (15, maybe less each year) . . . Mack let the roster get too bloated in 2004, the result being just 15 signees for 2005 . . . that led to a lack of depth and probably helped cause some of the problems that resulted in three-loss seasons in 2006 and 2007. (By bloated, I mean fourth- and fifth-year players who weren’t contributing on the field.)
Our 2009 signing haul was 21, now reduced by one (Marcus Davis) . . . 2008 signings totalled 20, reduced by three (Dan Buckner, Jarvis Humphrey; also, Antoine Hicks never got into school). Plus, we redshirted 14 last season and 9, I believe, in 2008, so those players are in line for a fifth season — further clogging the depth chart and reducing schollies that could be offered.
Question that might have to wait for an answer
What from that list would make the 2011 class better than the 2010 class?
I know this would be difficult (maybe impossible) before their senior season is played….. but I was curious to see if you thought it was possible, and if so, what would it take?

Who cares, they are both awesome classes!

The fun is in debating......
I am just curious.

Ok, well if we got Brown, Westerman, Turner AND Vaugthers..
I would say this class is better. Happy? ;)

Hey man,
Its Spring. Need to keep sparking some conversation to pass the time until August.

Fair enough.
Well looks like we got Westerman. Definitely one of the best players in the nation..period.

Definitely not GoBR here . . .
I don’t know that the ‘11 class can be better than the one just signed, barring a surprising grab or two from the top of the NATIONAL top 100. But adding Malcolm Brown and one other from Big Roy’s list would get this group pretty close.
I think Anthony Wallace is the best football player in this class.

GOBR...how much does Quincy Russell's decommit change things with thist list and overall?
Do we open back up to another DT? Do we dump him altogether out of pride and/or because we don’t want to wait? By telling the other DT’s that we’re all set did we burn bridges? Or will our second/third choice at DT be that much more excited about getting a second shot? We don’t get many decommits (thank goodness) so I’m not sure what the next step/strategy is here….
Cross out Westerman
He’s ours
Stumpy: It's called the '80s. Ford was president, Nixon was in the White House, and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-the-wall town in what is now called "Utah".
I'm Westerman didn't plan this...
….but to offset the Russell with his own committment on the same day is more than we could ask. Thanks for the pick me up.
