H'oboy, here we go
This could get ugly, but very, very entertaining. I think UT carries enough clout to land on its feet no matter what happens, but if the Huskers or Tigers leave, it’s anybody’s guess how the dust will settle.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I'm skeptical about this one
Since it came from a sports radio station, but like you said, it can get entertaining. We’ll see.

could they have waited until after finals?
this is wildly inconvenient on multiple levels.

Agreed. Radio station reporters are, typically, young and not as wired into
good sources. And there’s no second source at this point.
Today’s media/blog mentality is “run with the rumor” in case you’re right, then you can brag you were “first with the story.”
I can understand Missouri’s interest in the Big Ten, but Nebraska has me scratching my head. The Cornhuskers are going to compete (and recruit) better playing Northwestern, Purdue, Minnesota and Michigan than OU, Kansas, Tech and A&M?
If you look at prestige only, Michigan and UT are about equal. tOSU and OU are relatively similar as well. I would even say that A&M and MSU are pretty similar too. The only distinct advantage that playing in the Big XII over Big televen is a stronger presence for recruiting in Texas. If they don’t play here or have a presence here, it’ll be very hard to recruit here.
I'm calling BS on this story without a moment's hesitation
However, this just broke within the past hour, and I’m buying this without hesitation
When si.com or espn.com
reports it I’ll give it some thought.

makes no sense
to have a conference with 13 teams… the article says they also offered ND and Rutgers, STILL makes no sense to have 15 teams, how do you split up the divisions fairly? Unless they’re just assuming 1 school turns them down (or 3).
I realize they currently have an odd number of teams with 11, but it seems like any more than that would require a division split and thus an even total.
I thnk the concept was
take 1 — Notre Dame, maybe Rutgers, or take 3 — Mizzou, Nebraska and one of the others, and maybe even go to 16. Pitt, UConn among the others that have been mentioned.
