"former" WR Brandon Collins
According to the Statesman, charges (agg. robbery, organized criminal activity) against "dismissed" WR Brandon Collins were dropped. But his attorney said "He looks forward to succeeding in the classroom and on the football field."

Article says he was also taking 12 hours of online courses through UT.
Does anyone have any idea what could happen? I supposed he could play football at some other college this upcoming fall. Any chance Mack could reinstate him? He was academically ineligble last season so maybe that played a part in Mack dismissing him from the team?!?
Whether he plays for UT again or not, hopefully all of this (legal & academics) have him on the right path.

Any chance Mack could . . .
I’d take the under on that one. Not just no chance but NO chance.
Based on Mack’s cryptic comments in January, my strong sense was the program was cutting all ties to Brandon Collins. Seems kind of unfair — guilty without a trial — but there may be (I’m guessing there are) facts the coaches are aware of that we are not.
Since he (technically) redshirted last fall, I believe he could transfer and play Div. I-A ball this fall, with two years eligibility remaining. Sure hope he gets the chance. I think our early season offensive problems in 2009 were caused in part by Brandon getting a ton of reps in the spring and summer that would have gone to another player had the staff known he wouldn’t be playing.
You have to sit out a year
AFTER the transfer has happened. Wherever he went as long as it is Div 1A he would have to sit another year out.

He was my favorite WR.
Not my favorite human being…but my favorite WR. We coulda used him this next year.
Definitely. I was expecting a Quan season for him.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Not sure this clears his name.
You don’t necessarily have to be guilty to be arrested.
However on the other side of the coin…you don’t necessarily have to be innocent to have your case thrown out.
From my understanding there wasn’t enough of a case to bring against him, but he was definitley involved with something that went down that day. Legally he’s innocent, but the law does not always reflect reality.
He’s lucky to get out of this situation, but Im pretty sure Texas and Brandon Collins have parted ways permanently.
Unfortunately, like everyone else
I think that ship has sailed.

In Mack I trust
I just don`t think Mack would have acted so strongly before the legal process unless there was just a ton of stuff in the background. With the charges dropped, I assume it is now the straw that broke the camel`s back and not the boulder that broke his back. I hope Brandon gets his chit together – he would have been our number 1 receiver this year without a doubt.
This wasn't Collins' first "incident"...
just the first that he got arrested for.
