Connor Rowe Signs with the Nationals
No word on how much money he got, but not at all a surprise. The Nats have scored 1 run in 20 innings this weekend against the White Sox, so Rowe will fit right in.

Things could be worse. Suppose your errors were counted and published every day, like those of a baseball player. ~Author Unknown
Things may pick up for Rowe with the Nats. You just never know. :-)
Two departing thoughts on Connor
1) He truly was an elite defensive centerfielder, and that may be his ticket to the big leagues.
2) Rowe’s legacy as a Longhorn has to be a happy one, if only for his part in Rupp-Rowe, the walkoff against Arizona State.
His junior year was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster, but I certainly wish him the best.
Given his problems as a junior
He was a perfect candidate to return. His value couldn’t have gone down. Good luck to him,
Signing...
Nice for Connor!…I liked his defense in the field.
Is Walla likely to play CF now?….Maybe Walsh to LF?
Walla will probably move to CF
Walsh would likely catch if the season started today. Look for Montalbano or one of the freshman in LF

Still can't see Walsh making it as a catcher
because he has a such a weak arm. Teams would run on him at will. 2010 commit Jacob Felts probably has the inside track at catching next year, as there are some rumblings that Nick DeSantiago could be on the way out along with Jordan Weymouth, although not for the same behavioral reasons.

Don't underestimate an offseason of weight training for Walsh
Rupp’s defensive statistics 2008-2010:
7-52 caught stealing in 2008
12-39 caught stealing in 2009
23-52 caught stealing in 2010
Felts could certainly catch, but freshmen catchers are just so unreliable defensively. Plus Walsh doesn’t really fit in the outfield.
Good luck to Conner
Man, it was so tough to be at DF for the regional and super regional and watch time after time Conner not execute at the plate – how I wanted to see Walsh in the game.
However, as mentioned above several times, his defense was brilliant and I can truly say Conner gave all out effort whenever he played. We all wish him the best at the next level.
Just looked at the numbers and saw
Rowe struck out more times than he had hits and walks. Wasn’t one of the reason why Texas kept the turf was to use to it’s advantage?
I think this was something that Garciaparra highlighted well in the first regional game:
while the old artificial turf played quickly and helped the offense get base hits, the new turf at the Disch actually makes it more difficult to get hits because the rubber pellets on the field slow down the baseball by absorbing it’s force. Not sure if it has helped or hurt Texas, but it certainly has changed the nature of the field. If anything, it’s probably helped the pictures to the tune of one or two hits per game.
