I generally avoid linking to Bohls, but this is an interesting tidbit: Texas will thoroughly examine its approach to scheduling nonconference football games, Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds told me last week. He wants two home-and-home series and one buy game at Royal-Memorial Stadium each year when the Big 12 turns to a nine league-game slate. Others have told me Texas will beef up the non-conference opposition. And that would be a good thing. Schedule maker Butch Worley is hard at work on it already, and has tried to book games with USC, which would be smart, given the Trojans' recent 30-scholarship penalty. Notre Dame might also appear on Texas' schedules. That would help Texas' BCS chances by enhancing what could be an iffy RPI, satisfy fans' yearning for better games, and get Mack Brown's team ready for Big 12 play.
