Workman, Green, Ruffin Unsigned With (just over) 48 Hours Left
Brandon Workman is still expected to be signed very soon and while it still seems extremely unlikely to see Chance Ruffin or Cole Green back in burnt orange next year, every minute they don't sign improves the odds. The deadline to sign is 11:59:59 on Monday. For comparison sake, Brandon Belt signed 72 hours before the deadline in 2009 and Jordan Danks signed with about 48 hours left.

Prolly Bad Attitude
But I really hope these guys are able to cash in and secure their future rather than return to the 40 acres. Pitching, elbows, and shoulders just is not a good combination, and you just never know.

I feel the same way
Green could conceivably get better and improve his stock but Ruffin and Workman have nowhere to go but down.
We'll find more pitching
When kids see our guys signing pro contracts, they want to come here.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
I'm with you boys....
There’s no need to worry as I know a lot of draft picks come down to the very last day. I know a few years back, the Rangers #1 Blake Beavan was down to the wire. Of course, our dbag #1 pick last year didn’t sign…….good ol’ Matt Purke.
There’s slot money that teams are supposed to pay these guys and don’t think that the players are all greedy. There’s some cheap ass teams out there. I remember Randy Boone got drafted in the 5th or 7th round by the Blue Jays and I saw him and asked him why he hadn’t signed yet. The slot was $75k or $100k(don’t quote my #‘s) for his position in the draft I believe and they were trying to get him sign for half of that or a 1/3 less. Obviously, some players sign for significantly over slot.
At the end of the day though, Ruffin’s dad knows what he’s doing and I’m sure these other guys know what they want. Congrats to all these guys and it sure was fun watching them. Let’s hope they get their deals done….and if not, it will be good to see them back in burnt orange for one more year.
Nice story
Sounds like the Tigers won’t come close to Green’s requests…similar situation I guess.

What's he asking for? Is it that much above slot?
Cole does have the leverage in this situation since he can go back for one more year and I’m guessing he has a number in his head that he wants?

I hear somewhere around twice the slot suggestion
Although I have no idea for sure, there’s a pretty good chance that’s all just bluster. FWIW the Nationals just signed their fourth round pick for a reported $2 million, which would be roughly ten times the slot suggestion. It’s a risky strategy for Cole because if he does go back to school and doesn’t improve his draft position then he’s SOL and entering an offseason where teams may be less willing to break the bank due to the possibility of hard slotting in 2012.
We can replace the Pitching
Stratford(sp) and Milner will be nails next year.
Keys will be the guy we need a replacement for and Moldy too.

that Workman may not sign.

Interesting...Has to be pure posturing
I can’t imagine him coming back. From Law:
@Morgansnmsu I agree that Workman would be foolish to go back to school, but I know their position is that he deserves first-round $.
As a Giants fan
I thank Texas for Brandon Belt. He should be in a Giants uniform by September and hopefully permanently on the roster next season.
