Shipley Moves Up in New Rivals100
Put down the pitchforks, folks, it's finally happening.
After strong performances at the Texas 7-on-7 State Championships and the Gridiron Kings event, Brownwood WR and 2011 Texas commit Jaxon Shipley is finally reaping the national benefits of his hard work.
Texas fans have known for some time that Shipley has been severely underrated on the national scene and now that ranking has changed, as Jordan's younger brother moved up more than 120 spots from 183 to 61 in the latest rankings.

Good Point - Does mean anything?

WR Recruiting
Jaxon Shipley to Texas is just a match made in heaven. Still wondering why we didn´t try harder for Metoyer over Onigbyle (apologize in advance for the spelling)? Seems one is a contender for top WR in country and the other is not.

Kennedy fell in love with Onyegbule
and Metoyer seemed higher on Texas A&M and Oklahoma — I think it would have been a tough battle for Texas to have a chance with him.

From what I saw of their tapes
They seemed to have pretty similar skillsets. Both really big frames, good hands, and the ability to fight off defenders. Also saw below-average speed and quickness. Metoyer has better game-breaking ability, though, IMO. Wasn’t he a grade risk or something, GoBR?
He was ineligible for a while during his basketball season
so he had some issues at least. Metoyer has improved his speed so I think he is faster than Onyegbule right now and I think Metoyer’s a better leaper. Playmaker though I think is the operative word. Onyegbule is more of a possession guy, both have really big, soft hands.

Per Rivals FWIW
Metoyer is the number 24 rated player overall and Ogie is not in the top 250. Of course would not be the first time Mack and company found gems that Rivals missed completely. Like McCoy, Gideon, Newton, Goodwin, Miller and on and on.

he will drop out in their next reshuffle

7 in the top 100...not too bad.
Here’s hoping for #8 (#8 on the list and our 8th in the top 100) in the next few weeks!

Shipley in, Turner out
Turner was on the last list. Apparently has struggled somewhat at camps and 7 on 7 this year.
Sheroid Evans and Garret Greanlea
GBR, I know many Texas fans think they should both be in top 100. Do you consider it a legit expectation, or just another case of every fan base thinking their guys are underrated?
In Mack Brown We Trust!
I think there is a little bit of that
The key with Evans I think is that he hasn’t quite realized his potential on the field yet and missed some time last year due to injuries. Given his obvious physical gifts, I think if he can put things together as a senior, he can make a big leap. As for Greenlea, I think the other services tend to like him a little bit more, so it’s probably fair to say that he is underrated by Rivals compared to where everyone else has him.

How about Rasco?
I’m surprised he is not on the list with the schools after him (primarily Texas and Bama) and as high as some (including Muschamp, it seems) are on him.
One recruiting service said he’d be a top 20-25 player in Texas this year.
What are you thoughts on him?
He's probably taken some hits
as a result of all the double and triple teams he faced this year and the word I got from someone who watches him closely is that he thinks that affected his motor sometimes because he got frustrated. For whatever reason, the available highlight film doesn’t give a good look at his speed off the ball, which is annoying because he had so many sacks — that makes the evaluation a little bit difficult. He’s a good player, but the services seem to be saying right now that he’s not as good as a lot of people thought after his sophomore year. Or, as I mentioned earlier, everyone is knocking him too much for the drop in production when it was more of a function of opponents scheming for him than anything else.

Its interesting
I dont think all comments have to be so important. I am suprised Jordan wasn’t in the top 100, or did they not have the list when he was recruited?
Oh, Rivals was ranking the top 100 then
They just didn’t have Jordan anywhere near it. He was ranked as the 18th best WR of his class.
Really?
Jaxon is also ranked as the 18th best receiver in his class, what a coincidence. I thought Jordan was a bigger recruit for some reason, since i had even heard of him back then and this was before i started following recruiting much. Oh how naive i was.
18th was Jaxson's old ranking
He’s around 7 or 8 now.

If nothing else
its an interesting look at the sociological side of sports.

Inside Out
Man I love seeing “OT, OG, DL, DE” for top Texas recruits. Football is played from the line of scrimmage out, and that’s one thing Mack has always focused on in recruiting. Oh, yeah, J Shipley looks like a good, too.

Agreed, Elongated
Especially on the offensive side. It’s time to get back to the toughness that Texas is known for and wins championships. I want more Kasey Studdard/Lyle Sendlein types that would rather cut off their own fingers than give up a hit on the QB.
SEC country
Georgia with 6 names in top 100? Louisiana with 5. Bama with 4.
