Job Well Done!
As combat operations in Iraq officially ended yesterday, I want to take this opportunity to greatly thank all the dedicated, unselfish, American heroes for winning the war in Iraq. Yes, winning the war. All who fought and served should be greeted with a ticker tape parade. But that is not to be as most patriots returning home will be quietly met by anxious family and friends.
And to those who lost loved ones, we humbly appreciate your sacrifice as you bear the greatest cost for our collective cause.
So this is your appreciation thread for all the real heroes and those still abroad.
God Bless America!

Well said...
As a retired military man who spent much time in Southwest Asia (that’s what military types call the region…media tends to refer to it as the Middle East), I also feel we are wrapping up the mission in an profoundly honorable and successful way. Only history will tell whether the blood sacrifice made by American soldiers has an enduring effect. But the men and women who served did this country proud.
Thank you
to all that have served and are currently serving. I have to say, as a retired military man myself, how proud I am of our country for the support they have given, and continue to give our service men and women. Let’s not forget that a lot of these folks will bear wounds and scars, both physically and mentally, for a very long time. They deserve our continued support.
Thanks TXstampede for the post.

Wow, hard to believe this day finally came.
I personally could never make it in the military as I have anti-authority issues, but I appreciate and respect those who do serve.
What is an anti-authority issue?

Simply: thank you to the bravest men and women who preserve this nation on a daily basis.
You are loved, cherished, and prayed for more than you realize.

To my brothers
<em>From Shakespeare’s Henry V, 1598:
KING HENRY V:
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
Wha...? No Whaley? No Hills?
