Because every day until kickoff is another 24 hours of football fixation, I thought I'd kill some time with a season prediction thread. (Sorry PB if I've stolen your thunder.) Rather than just the 'Horns final record -- feel free to predict that, too -- I'd like to drill a little deeper. This is one of those transitional years at Texas and I think we'll see the seeds of the future of the program sown this season. So with that in mind, please finish the following sentence, fellow BONers:
This is the year...
To get the ball rolling, here are mine:
... the offensive line starts to return to the form of the Vince Young years. There is more quality young talent on campus than any time I remember, but no position takes longer to develop than on the offensive line. There are some future road-graders on this crew. This season they'll have some tough games but the young talent will begin to become evident.
... we see the emergence of the future strength of the defense: the linebacking corps.
... we will begin to see why GG is the best pro prospect at quarterback the Longhorns have ever had. (Let's hope he stays through his senior year, which I feel he will.)
... a running back fails to emerge, again. Malcolm Brown, your table is ready.
... the Longhorns set single-season records for sacks and turnovers forced. But they'll be well-distributed and we won't see any individual players set records.
I have more but I'd rather turn it over to the chattering masses. Your turn, folks...
