Oklahoma's Roy Finch Injures Ankle, Out 6-8 Weeks
The Oklahoman reports that tailback Roy Finch is in a cast and using crutches following a hairline fracture to his ankle sustained in practice:
"He's in a cast, walking around best he can on crutches," said coach Bob Stoops. "He has a good attitude. Roy will do well. He'll be back. And we expect him to play. They don't foresee any complications. There's no dislocation."
Stoops said that type of injury usually takes six to eight to eight weeks of recovery but added: "There's no displacement. It's just a little crack in the bone that should heal fine... They may X-ray it in five weeks and it looks good."
Finch turned heads during two-a-days with his ability to make plays in the open field and was vying for playing time behind starter DeMarco Murray and Mossis Madu.
Now, we're never happy to see an opposing player suffer. But seeing Bob Stoops try to spin bad news? Why yes... Yes, please. I'll have another.

hate to see anybody get injured
Hope he gets better soon so our defense can demolish his ass on the football field.

Made it sound like Finch was threatening to pass up Jermie Calhoun for the 3rd string RB position and be first in line to take over the starting role next season. Tough loss for Stoopsie.
I don't always watch football, but when I do, I prefer Dos Achos. Stay thirsty, my friends.
Yes, Stoops
Encourage a 5-week recovery and try to bring him back earlier than he’s ready for so he can get hurt again, a la Sam Bradford. Classy.
You ask what motivates me to write BDR?
Bob Stoops. You cannot not find better entertainment.
Tubbs (shortened Tubberville) is showing promise, though. Love him telling the Raider faithful off.
Nonsense
The training staff is probably already working on a special boot—using lightweight yet durable plastic, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and some Velcro—and will have him ready for Utah State.

As a told Peter today
Look for me in my “Bob Stoops: Killing Texas puppies since 1999” t-shirt at OU-Texas.
I wish Bob was my Dad (love you real Dad)

All in good fun, Kratos. Just like Crimson & Cream comparing Mack Brown to Roscoe Coltrane.

I was having fun as well
And Mack really does look like Roscoe.

The RRR game is exactly 5 weeks & 2 days away.
Finch’ll be on the sideline, in street clothes, eatin’ a Fletcher’s. Always love to see the evil empire have woes but couldn’t it have happened to a starter?! Maybe DeMarco’s practice reps will go up now and expose him to more risk.
Wishing injuries
On a young man is taking it a little far, don’t you think?

Agreed.
Wishing any player is hurt is ridiculously unclassy and unnecessary.
Don’t embarrass us homie.
Lighten up, fellas. In hindsight, it was a poorly-worded jest. My apologies.
Nobody wants the kid to get hurt. I really doubt that my words would make that happen, either.
Maybe I should have been more classy & creative by ripping on a good man & a great coach like Stoops. It seems to be more readily-acceptable here to inaccurately rip someone’s character.
We all make mistakes man
and get a little too worked up sometimes. Glad you are man enough to realize that, and are man enough to own up to it.
We're Texas
means in part we don’t condone cheating or talking smack about injuries. feel free to despise ou, usc and a&m for cheating, arrogance, and their coaching staff’s willingness to jeopardize the health of their players, but laughing at injuries ain’t Texas style.

Arrogance, see thyself.
“…despise ou, usc and a&m for…their coaching staff’s willingness to jeopardize the health of their players…”
And you have evidence & knowledge of their willingness to hurt their own players? Get a grip. Just because I unintentionally chose my words poorly doesn’t mean you can connect ’em to your own ridiculous statements.
I didn't take it that you wanted anyone hurt
just giving OU a hard time. Your poorly-worded jest comment was proof enough of that. But I do find it admirable people on this site more or less police comments. Stoops is an easy target. You can take the 6-8 week Finch injury and we’ll have him x-rayed at five weeks and claim Stoops is going to play him at 5 weeks. When I’m sure it would be to evaluate his progress to see it he can start to rehab to play in 6-8 wks. So your assertion there is no proof of a willingness to injure a player by rushing a recovery is valid robthecob. I see no foul on anyone’s part really.

Thanks for your understanding. It's good to have accountability here at BON.
I’m pretty sure that Stoops & Mack both exercise the practice of, “The trainer & the Dr. always have the final word on injuries.” Neither would push a kid to return if he was in any danger of jeopardizing his career. From my understanding of last year, Bradford was in no danger of getting hurt worse than he already was. Stoops is one of the last guys out there who would sacrifice a kid’s health for a quick win.
Wow
Now that was the kind of civil community interaction that makes me proud… Thanks, everyone.
You ain't hurt...
