2012 Texas prospect, Matt Davis, Injured in Loss to Cinco Ranch Tonight
2012 prospect out of Klein Forest HS in Northwest Harris County (Houston) was injured in the second quarter against Katy Cinco Ranch on opening night of football. It was a knee injury that took him out of the game, and Klein Forest coach, Keith Hammock stated that it could be serious, possible ACL tear.
Also, Daniel Lasco from the Woodlands rolled his ankle and sat out the rest of the game after the 2nd offensive series. The injury appears to not be serious. The Woodlands beat Monterrey Tech (Yes....from Mexico) in a rout, 44-7.

Thanks
Thanks for posting this – terrible news to see though. Was really looking forward to seeing how he did this year, and I’m interested to see how it will affect his recruitment… Any thoughts on this?
Really liked the few plays I’ve seen of his.
Was tweeting about Davis this evening.
Hopefully the news will end up being better than it sounds right now. Doesn’t even matter where Davis ends up in college, he’s such an incredible talent that it would be a terrible loss for high school football in the state not to have his junior season ended by this injury.

This is really a kick in the teeth
It was my contention that Matt Davis was the only in state difference maker at quarterback in the 2012 class.
Hopefully he can work out , even in a limited capacity for the Texas coaches, and that will be enough to convince them to offer.
Before the injury there was a wide margin between Matt Davis and Knight, the margin is now even.
It would not surprise me if the coaches passed on Davis, offered Knight and received a pledge from Knight at a Junior Day.
I wish Davis the best of luck. This is a very sad turn of events indeed. I really wanted a better passing Russell Shepherd clone at Texas.
GOBR , you might be able to answer this. What kind of medical access can the Texas coaches have to Davis? Can they give him a physical before they offer?

Not sure about being able to give a physical
Kind of doubt it. My guess would be that they would just talk to his coach and trust him on that. Can’t think of any instances recently where an athlete didn’t completely recover from an ACL tear, so this is more about Davis getting behind in his development in terms of mechanics.
With all the quarterbacks in the classes in front of Davis, he would probably be given some developmental time in the program before being asked to play, so I’m not sure if his loss of developmental time will really even hurt him that much.
Can definitely see a scenario where the Texas coaches go with Knight because he fits better into the current scheme and would be a likely Junior Day commit if offered. Would rather that didn’t happen, but Knight is a good quarterback and should be a solid collegiate quarterback. He’s just not nearly as exciting as Davis.

Terrible news.
Been an outstanding kid from everything ive seen thus far.
Wish him the best of luck in his recovery.
Man this is brutal
Both for Matt because this is probably the worst time this injury could have happened for him (from a recruiting hype standpoint) and for the state because the QB position just got a lot less interesting. Even worse to happen to a QB who’s best facet is scrambling :/
Just saw a retweet from GoBR...
He’s done for the season. Damn.
Stumpy: It's called the '80s. Ford was president, Nixon was in the White House, and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-the-wall town in what is now called "Utah".

Appreciative...
To all of you that have had good words and wished Matthew well, a sincere Texas size thank you and God Bless. Matthew has the dicipline, endurance and faith to see this through, only to come out even stronger than before. His family and the people that know him would not expect any less, for this is the way Matthew does it. Hookem’ Horns……GO TEXAS!!
From his interviews
He seems like a great kid with a perspective beyond his age. All that besides being a fantastic football player. Best of luck to him once again with his recovery.
