Stoops Chimes In On USC's 2004 Title
More interesting are the comments below the linked article so read on. The very real possibility that USC should not have been in the 2005 MNC game against Texas because of the violations. Apparently USC, by virtue of its cheating, also kept Penn State from meeting Texas. Interesting scenario...thoughts?

Definitely feel bad for Penn St.
But it was clear that season that Texas and USC were the two best teams of the year. Penn State had a good team, but it would have taken a heck of a good day to take VY and Texas down at a neutral site.

Yeah, that would have been scary!
USC, with its all-pro offense and rush-pass balance, couldn’t beat Texas. Penn State’s juggernot attack would have . . . also finished No. 2.
