2012 C Isaiah Austin to Baylor
The rumor mill has been in full swing in regards to top 2012 prospect Isaiah Austin ever since he set his announcement for Monday night.
Over the last 24 hours or so, all of those signs have looked an awful look like bear tracks and several sources are now definitively reporting that Austin will suit up for the Bears a little more than two years from now.
It's a major setback for the Longhorns, trying desperately to add interior depth and Austin now represents the second major in-state miss in the last several months after the commitment of Zach Peters to Kansas.
And this is inevitably where the accusations will start flying at Scott Drew, hardly Rick Barnes' best friend, but let's try to keep things as civil as possible.

I had a feeling
Best of luck to the kid. Worst of luck to Scott Drew and the Bears program. :-)
Stumpy: It's called the '80s. Ford was president, Nixon was in the White House, and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-the-wall town in what is now called "Utah".

We lost a recruiting battle to Baylor? Kansas I get but freaking Baylor?
Get this shit corrected Rick. You’ve built up a strong program but this is unacceptable.
Don’t start down the wrong path.

Bobino hitting a woman then Allen's injury
And now this? I’m going to bed before Jenkins announces to the huskies or Augie gets picked up for DWI.

I know gobr wants us to keep it classy and I'll just imply a thing or 2 about Scott Drew...
I think it was very clear why Bobby Knight and Rick Barnes neither cared for him….it is a fluke when Baylor gets guys like this. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…
Nothin to lose sleep over
After seeing our track record when we focus on the Center position as a focal point, this is the position in college to Whiff on.
High likelihood of Centers go pro after year 1 and this is the least important position in Barnes style/philosophy
Plenty of time for Barnes to find a blue collar post man that gets the job done
Not worried about Rick's recruiting.
He gets more than he misses. And in a national recruiting atmosphere like basketball, that is extremely impressive. Also, semi-agree with HUILA about the center position. We do need more bigs on this team, but it doesn’t have to be a tue center.
All this does is make me want our boys to beat Baylor by 30. or 40.

The venom over this is ridiculous
I know it’s tough for us Horns to fathom, but Baylor actually has a lot of selling points for some people. When you’re 3 hours or less from DFW, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, that’s close enough for guys in all those cities to visit their families, have mama come to the games, etc. Lots of guys with strong Christian faith like the Baptist thing. And Scott Drew, love him or hate him, is extremely personable and charismatic, and guys really like him in person. In fact, those 3 reasons are the exact reasons Austin gave. And it helps to reach the Elite 8 and be a shot away from beating Duke to go to the Final 4 (and it hurts us to have imploded so badly).
But yes, this losing streak must end so my BU grad parents can stop gloating.
Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you soon enough. If he's not, don't embarrass him.
