In the above, the standout on offense is probably Fozzy

I’ll bite on Chykie though, maybe he hangs onto his pick 6 this week.

by notsofst on Sep 10, 2010 11:41 AM CDT up reply actions

i think it's about for a breakout game.

21 for wyoming is generous, i’ll agree. but think of the fire they could bring. i’m a big believer in the power of emotion in sports, and wyoming has all the fuel in the world right now.

and i’m giving them one in garbage time.

Would love to see Gideon do this but would rather see the pick 6 next Saturday night in Lubbock!

Pass me another heart attack please.

I’m still trying to recover from that game and that moment in time when the ball was in the air. For health concerns, let’s all hope for a 21 pt. win.

ask me who my defensive standout player next week is.

that kid tortures himself emotionally more than anyone else on the team. i think he’s got a monster game in him up in lubbock.

by The Mack Attack on Sep 10, 2010 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Texas: 48
Wyoming: 13

Could be worse, but Mack will go soft earlier than usual, giving Wyoming a late TD against 3rd string and walk on players.

Texas: 483 total yards
Wyoming: 212 total, mostly backloaded.

Tre: 25, 121
Fozz: 8, 57
Tank: 8, 48

GG: 15-21, 219, 2TD, 0 INT (keep the streak going!)

Offense POG: Mason. I expect this guy to start opening lanes on the regular, especially against this small a front.

Defensive POG: Muschamp’s BallHawk Tee. I’d set the line at 4.5 turnovers generated this game. If New England loaned their statistician head coach to Wyoming, they would play the odds and punt on 3rd and long rather than get wrecked.

If we’re going for relative surprise, I’d go with Chykie. Everyone is down on him, so he’ll impress with some decent plays, or go AJ style invisible.

Just a comparison to bring us back to reality...here's what I would have predicted in VY's Championship year for the Wyoming game!

wow, still cant believe that anyone here thinks we get more than 42... against a much better team than Rice

we score 41, wyoming gets 14-20

our running game will stink but gg will do OK with some deep passes to keep the score respectable

"We'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!"

by greenspointexas on Sep 10, 2010 2:27 PM CDT reply actions

I'm not sure how much better Wyoming is compared to Rice

but it isn’t a huge difference. These are 2 completely different teams with 2 completely different schemes and philosophies. Rice grew up ALOT from last year, but after reviewing Wyoming’s game against Southern Utah, I’m not sure if I can say the same for them.

Stumpy: It's called the '80s. Ford was president, Nixon was in the White House, and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-the-wall town in what is now called "Utah".

by kriess on Sep 10, 2010 2:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Wyoming is running a middling spread attack into a buzzsaw designed for spreads. Whatever points they get will be off fluke defections and turnovers…. Maybe get one in against the mopup crew, who knows. However, I appreciate your mild pessimism and restraint.

by Tackchevy on Sep 10, 2010 2:53 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm too superstitious

To make detailed predictions, but I think Fozzy and Tre will have good numbers, Vaccaro will have some big plays as will the Achos, and Gilbert’s numbers will vastly improve from last week. Score around 40.

Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you soon enough. If he's not, don't embarrass him.
