Game Day thread
It has been way too long and even though you folks in God's country may be watching something other than Ohio State, it is a game (finally) and I am ready to watch college football. So consider this the game day thread for the first day of College Football. Any game is worth talking about. I propose we drink with every reference to Vince Young in talking about OSUs T. Pryor.

Unfortunatley I don't get the big 10 network...but I am watching the South Caronlina-Miss state game
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
I will let you know. Right now he seems to be handing off the ball and the line is opening holes.
Marshall is too outmatched to know how good T Pryor is.
Sounds like a nice return. So Carolina really looks like crap on offense.
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
Awful throw by Garcia.. Reciever had to go up the ladder to get it. First down though
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
Pass by pryor to a wide open receiver on the run. Would have been a TD buy pryor was long. I think the announcers are blaming the receiver for slowing down.
Appearently a true freshman was challenging him but gave Garcia the start because of his experience.
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
I've tired of watching a pathetic South Carolina offense over the years..
I never thought I would see a Spurrier team depend on its defense to win games.
Haha. Sucks when you live somewhere else and have to watch those games as well. I spent 8 years in the hell that is Arkansas so I knew as much about them as I do Texas
Yup. I ended a presentation today with a slide that showed Colt running past the OSU defenders
in the fiesta bowl. HA. They groaned.
Big Reverse by SC. over 50 yards...If it was Malcom Williams...TD for sure
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
Got So Carlolina on the tv and the Titans on the cpu....It's a great day

I'm itchin for Saturday...I can't wait to be screamin my UT head off at Relient
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
Supposedly there is gonna be a pretty nice little pregame in the blue lot. Lol I for one will be there.
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
I just moved here in March...I made damn sure that I was going to get to atleast one game this season.
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
He is off and on. some sloppy low passes. some lasers to the numbers. Long passes look good.
His runs are adequate but not spectacular. The O-line against marshall is making him look good.
OT: Tevin Jackson out for the year due to a transcript issue (HS & NCAA)
Link
He is not even enrolled in school this year so it would be just like he starts whenever he gets cleared. Hopefully by January.
Was this guy supposed to play any sort of role on this year's team?
if not, then I’m not sure if this is necessarily bad news

Seems like he was pretty highly recruited, however It's encouraging that we have depth.
Garrett Gilbert is My hero!
Yeah, rivals had him listed as the 3rd best LB in the nation for the 2010 class..
Pretty good considering Jordan Hicks was #1. Not bad having the #1 and #3 linebackers in last years class..
Apparently he was supposed to redshirt anyways. I’m trying to find credible proof of that. I figured he would play special teams.
Several blogs have had an embarrassing admissions post for everyone to purge. So here it is:
I like Mark May. There I said it.
What's sad?
It’s just like BON with a sizable portion of the blog’s readership gathering to usher in the start of the college football season (I think I’m selling BON way short there)
I've always wondered why they can't get much traffic over there
Texags is hard to compete with to get readers, that’s for sure.

Its not that I care about any of these games.
But I am having such a good time switching between them. Damn was this off season longer than the others? Or am i just excited about GG?
ESPN jumping on Garcia's bandwagon already....
I’d wait until he does something against a decent defense before jumping on his bandwagon.
Vy comparison
I noticed on these boards that some people take offense to comparisons to VY (Terrell Pryor etc). I don’t, I take it as a compliment. I look at it the same way every basketball player is compared to Michael Jordan that’s the kind of mark VY made on the college game. Just think about it every QB that comes out of high school or plays in college with a similar style to Vince Young will always be compared to him, that’s awesome
Hook’em
I don't take offense. It is just times premature.
On what do you base the comparison? His consistent ability to run away from tacklers? His quick easy stride? His ability to make something out of nothing? His ability to bring his team back from behind in the 4th quarter? That is what I want to hear. How is he like VY? Not just he is like VY.
he is going to improve...
All of the “cut” chatter was freaking hilarious.

I disagree
I think they have great coverage. The job they did for Wyoming was actually very good last year.

Dave Wannstedt
basically gave up controlling his own fate (having a 3rd and goal with under 30 seconds left means he has a shot a winning the game and Utah doesn’t), but instead, he runs to set up the field goal, essentially playing for overtime, inexplicably sharing the odds with Utah. In fact, going to overtime on the road probably pushes the odds back toward the home team.
I think he did something similar to lose the game against Cincinnati in the finale last season. What an idiot.
Meh
Les Miles is just crazy, and sometimes it works. Wannstedt consistently goes against logic, which is, to me, a greater offense, and practically never works.

That was brutal. And then the official makes a signal that looks like a touchdown and the call was overturned correctly….. BUT NO, his mic not working and he meant short by this much. What a moron.
Ps. Lane Kiffin is such an ass, going for 2 after first 3 scores. Makes me wanna vomit

Definitive evidence, without a doubt...
The replay booth gets that call right and we’d actually have a game here.
I rewound a few times...his right elbow POSSIBLY comes into contact with the turf prior to his lunge...check it out once more.
But I agree…it is hard to tell and by all accounts, that should have been a TD.

If this were June Jones' Hawaii team
USC would be upset, and have a very long plane ride home. Of course Kiffin would tell his players to swim back. Bastard.

TD Hawaii
Getting close to 500 yards given up by USC. 42-30 is the score. USC leads. 6:48 left in the game.
60 yard pass for a TD by Hawaii’s 3rd string QB against USC starters! This might end being the death penalty for USC.

USC's defense is borderline embarrassing
they looked slow, unathletic, unaggressive, and disorganized. They gave up nearly 600 yards, much of that to back-up quarterbacks.
