I was there, and it was awful

Went down with a buddy who was being recruited by Texas. It was a dream come true or a 16-17 year old. Pre-game tour of facilities, watching players stretch indoors b/f game, a nice looking girl to tour us around. Then the game…. then, the game.
It was so bad i remember the parties that we went to that night at various fraternities were absolutely dead.

I don't think 66-3 cost Mackovic

his job . . . it speeded up the process, for sure. But flaws in his recruiting and his lack of a connection with the roots of the program/state/high school coaches were already lined up to oust him.

That said, the man did coach us to the last SWC championship in 1995 and the first Big 12 championship in 1996.

Remember Goliad!

I disagree with the author’s comparison of “Route 66” to that of the Alamo defeat. At least those men put up a fight. A better comparison is the execution administed by the dictator, er, General Antonio López de Santa Anna at Goliad of 400 Texans. Mackovik, like James Fannin, surrendered early only to be turned inside out and ultimately eliminated. The fight was over before it began. At least that’s what my 7th grade Texas History teacher, Mrs. Rhome, would have argued. And yes, she was the mother of Jerry Rhome who you old whiper snappers will remember as the H.S. All American at Dallas Sunset, 2nd place Heisman finisher the year after Staubach won the trophy while quarterbacking the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, NFL QB and coach and all around outstanding Texan. Maybe Coach Brown should hire him as a QB coach/consultant to ease the burden a little?

You lost me at . . .
Joe Jamail

I’m not even a mere $200 donor, so I’m not even worthy of reading what he has to say.

Hungry Hippos, baby! It's on!

You just won't let my rant go.

Alright already. I was over the top and wrong. But if I pass out at the game Saturday I will be dreaming of all the fun em will be having Saturday night:)

I was there...and stayed to the bitter end

I kept thinking it can’t get worse, but it did time and time again. It was a comedy of errors.

By the end of the game I was all alone in my section and I remember thinking and praying that this was the bottom we needed to hit so we could start going back up. And, I remember thinking that some day we will play UCLA when we have a good team/coach.
