Blake Gideon is Hilarious,... and ready

Jr. S Blake Gideon, from MBTF:

On if the guys in front are excited about facing a team with a downhill running game: "I think so. I don’t think any of those guys like to rush the passer, and then have it thrown over their head and have to turn around and chase people all day. I think it is a game that all those front guys are looking forward to. Whenever you think about playing linebacker, you don’t really think about covering receivers and making zone drops and stuff, [and] matching routes. You think about coming downhill and blowing up the running game. It will be a different style of offense that we are preparing for. Like I said, we’ll be looking forward to it."

Must Read

Star-divide

This is why the guy has started from Day 1 and has kept his job while fending off the likes of Head-Hunters K. Vaccaro and C. Scott, among others. Gideon is a leader. All he does is prove people wrong. He proved people wrong in high school. He proved the recruiting services wrong. He proved doctors wrong. He proved fans wrong, when they said he was as good as he'd ever be as a freshman. He proved 2008 wrong. He does the dirty work, and I know you know I like the dirty work. When he's not on the field, we get scored on. He is a walking, talking pile of pain and to have him roam our secondary sends chills down my back, and I can only imagine what it's doing to opposing offenses this year. Where the hell are these hits coming from? Is he now so comfortable with the mental aspect of the game that he has allowed himself to unleash this said pain? Is his physical condition that much better from years past? Surely he couldn't have played as well as he has the past 2 years while only being around 70-80%??

Color me impressed. Keep those hits coming Blake

I felt horrible for the kid in 2008...

I have watched him mature on the field the past 2/12 years. Not sure if he will make the NFL, but my hope is he does. I will be pulling for him big time. Perhaps he makes a practice squad roster if not the active.

I think he'll make the NFL

He’s unlikely to be a day-one or even day-two pick, IMO, but I’m pretty sure a four-year starter who has really improved on his non-physical weaknesses and is still a pretty good athlete > or = 6th round.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

I've always liked him too

He is a player and has what it takes-I could see him being a late round pick.

He proved 2008 wrong

How did he prove that wrong?

Hi Mrs. Gideon!!!!

Glad to see you found the website!

You may need to apply a bit more intelligence next time you post though. Those comments are about other players’ attitudes, not his own. They really have nothing, and I mean NOTHING, to do with your son being a “leader.” Actually I think our DL rather enjoys rushing the passer. Last I checked that’s how they get sacks.

If Gideon plays a down in the NFL, I will eat my hat.

by DogTown on Sep 23, 2010 1:47 PM CDT reply actions

It says

Rush the passer and have the ball thrown over their heads. I appreciate your reading comprehension skills though.

by GoHornsGo90 on Sep 23, 2010 1:51 PM CDT up reply actions

See,

When you execute a quick passing game like Tech does, the DL’s don’t get sacks. The QB gets rid of the ball too fast and it is a battle between the DBs and WRs on those quick routes. DLs DON’T like that. They don’t get to make plays, then they hurry up and run it again, which makes the DLs tired on top of that.

When you play a running team, DLs get to pound some backs on 1st and 2nd down, hopefully get them into a 3rd and long, and then pin your ears back and go for the quarterback.

While that is far from brain surgery, Gideon saying that is actually pretty intelligent. Shows he understands the game from all positions point of view.

Contrast that with the lack of intelligence, or class for that matter, that your comments to this post displayed.

Wow. You should give up posting

After watching UCLA go for 250+ rushing, you still think the D would rather face a running team over a passing team.

Yeah, you’re a twat and just showed your ass.

Grab the spices & marinade. At this point, it's likely you'll be choking it down.

Do the names Bill Bates & Steve Tasker ring any bells? How ‘bout their combined 28 season NFL careers? If you’d like to crow that Gideon will not be drafted or ever be a starter in the NFL, go ahead. But being a 4-year starter in a program & defense like Texas’, is a pretty good indication that the kid can play ball. He could easily be a contributor on special teams & as a DB reserve in the NFL. It would be quite lame & shortsighted to state otherwise.

You guys crack me up

So you name two white DBs that played 20 years ago.

What does that have to do with Blake Gideon not being good enough to play in the League?

I really love you guys.

by DogTown on Sep 23, 2010 5:29 PM CDT up reply actions

You may

need to learn how to read. Your utter stupidity is as visible as my shlong from the bottom of my shorts- when I don’t tie the knot correctly. You have effortlessly made yourself look no more “intelligent” than a bag of hammers.

Why don’t you click the “Must Read” link. I only posted one paragraph. There’s plenty more. The guy knows what he’s talking about, unlike you, whose entire post made no fucking sense whatsoever.

by Dirty Work on Sep 23, 2010 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Aaaaawwwwwww

And I thought we were friends ((tear))

speaking of reading comp, I was replying to the folks who think Blake Buckner is NFL bound.

You guys sure do get a lot of sand in your vaginas over this guy. What gives?

by DogTown on Sep 23, 2010 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

No.

I couldn’t care less about your second comment. I am replying to your first comment. You were replying to me in your first comment, remember? And everything you said was Fail. Not only did you have NO idea whatsoever of what this whole post was about, you didn’t read the “Must Read” link (which would probably change your mind about Gideon) and you’re probably wrong about him never playing a down in that other league…Even though I never said anything about it.

by Dirty Work on Sep 23, 2010 8:09 PM CDT reply actions

This is too much

First, you’re right I shouldn’t have replied. This fanpost was your man-love ode to a player. I shouldn’t have crapped all over it, no matter how stunningly mediocre the player is. You love him and think he’s the best. I can respect that. My response was sarcastic, I was making the joke that anyone who loved BG as much as yourself would be his mom. I’m sorry you didn’t understand that. (If you love Gideon though, it’s too bad you weren’t around in 2006 and 2007. You would have LOVED Robert Killebrew.)

Second: I clicked the link, because you said it would totally change my mind about BG. WOW DID IT EVER!! Holy cow, he is 100 times better than an Earl Thomas/Aaron Williams clone! Ed Reed dont got shit on Blake Gideon! I can tell just by his words that he is now twice as fast, several feet taller, and can tackle in space! All from his words!

Third: Your earlier response was awesome. Much props to you. You referenced your wiener AND hurled insults at someone who disagreed with you. It was one of the finer retorts I’ve read, and earned a hearty belly laugh. Poetry, imo.

by DogTown on Sep 24, 2010 10:28 AM CDT reply actions

Thank you

I’m flattered… Still doesn’t change the fact that you’re a complete idiot that can’t read..

by Dirty Work on Sep 24, 2010 11:21 AM CDT up reply actions

And

You’re not being really fair comparing Gideon to people like Ed Reed. Nobody was saying he was Ed Reed good. I never even mentioned the NFL. And this clone thing that you made up. Doesn’t make sense. You act like you’ve never talked up a Texas football player before. You obviously have something against the dude and that’s why you shit all over the comments section.

Stunningly mediocre players don’t come to Texas and start from day 1. Not these days. You are wrong, in every aspect, and I can only imagine that Blake must have fucked your girlfriend or sister maybe, because I find it rather unusual that you would have anything this negative to say about a player who’s been no less than solid for 3 straight years for the team you root for.

by Dirty Work on Sep 24, 2010 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

While what most of you said is definitely true

Gideon was a mediocre player when he was starting here as a true freshman. Earl Thomas was pretty average too, though he obviously had a much better freshman season. I guess you forgot what it was like two years ago, but we had absolutely no depth (literally) at the safety position. It was a joke. Luckily it mostly turned out for the best, especially with how well Gideon is playing now.

by GoHornsGo90 on Sep 25, 2010 12:55 AM CDT up reply actions

You just got fucking owned

You said Gideon was gonna be a killer!! You said the D wanted to play a run team!! WOW, you are fucking retarded.

Gid got trucked on EVERY run play. He hates contact and takes terrible angles.

Dont ever disagree with me again, you’ll just look like a moron. again.

by DogTown on Sep 25, 2010 6:48 PM CDT up reply actions

uhh..
you’ll just look like a moron. again.

It’s easy to come back and be petty after a Longhorn loss and try to shit on everyone’s parade. However, it’s you that looks stupid doing it.

by vy til i die on Sep 27, 2010 11:12 AM CDT up reply actions

I got owned?

I wasn’t out there.

Not once did I see Gideon get trucked. I saw both Browns, Aaron, Earnest, E. Acho and Calvin Howell all get trucked. Show me where Gideon got trucked. I can recall him making a tackle that might’ve stopped a TD on a long run down the left sideline. The fucking bruins OL and RB’s were getting to the 2nd level on every play so this isn’t on any of the DB’s.. shit starts up front.

Now check yourself and dont ever talk to me like that again you no-nothin retard. You know nothing about football and everyone can see that. I’ll say again, I bet Gideon pumped your sister, right?
