Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

I know the UCLA loss hurts, but...

...this is your friendly reminder that it's RED RIVER WEEK!!!  Sure, I want to analyze and vent as much as anyone about our woes, but now it's time, since I haven't seen it on that board yet to remind everyone that...

OU STILL SUCKS!!!  They are the most suckiest suck in the sucking history of suckdom that ever did suck!  They are vile, cheating, dirty, classless losers and while we may not be in Championship form right now, I have to have hope in our team and our fans that we will come out and do our best.  It might not be pretty.  It might not guarantee a victory.  But, damnit, this is Dallas.  Our tipping point. You know it.  Mack knows it.  The team knows it.

So, if you read this Big Game Bob (or who am I kidding...if someone can sound it out to you) know this...WE'RE COMING FOR YOU, AND WE'RE NOT TAKING PRISONERS!!!

HOOK 'EM!!!!

I loahte all that is Norman...

mainly because Texas kids end up in that abysmal uniform. Having to be subjected to that annoying fight song for one day per year is punishment enough for our abortion of a performance this past Saturday. Matter of fact, MB should pipe in the OU fight song at practice as a premonition to what will happen if the same team shows up this weekend. It should be noted, 10-3 is still my best outcome possibility with this team unless something major changes, no pun intended.

Hey, we can easily pull off this stat line:

1st Downs – 20
3rd down efficiency – 5-19
4th down efficiency – 0-0
Total Yards – 269
Passing - 127
Comp-Att – 21-40
Yards per pass – 3.2
Rushing - 142
Rushing Attempts – 40
Yards per rush – 3.6
Penalties – 11-103
Turnovers – 3
Fumbles lost – 2
Interceptions thrown – 1
Possession - 34:32

That’s win in Dallas!!!! 16-13 baby!!! Hook ’em!

The UCLA loss definitely hurts!

However, it’s definitely not the worst game Texas could have lost, and while I am probably just rationalizing here, it occurs to me that it could actually be the best game to lose.

Firstly, UCLA is a non-conference opponent, and has no bearing on the Big 12 South race unless Texas ends up in another three-way tie-breaker.

Secondly, UCLA is a more respectable loss than Rice, Wyoming, or FAU would’ve been.

Thirdly, the timing definitely exposes some weaknesses Oklahoma might exploit, but it comes just a week ahead of the RRS, OU has their own problems, and losing this game could also serve as a reality check that knocks some sense of seriousness into the heads of the players.

Like I said, I could just be rationalizing here, and the loss definitely isn’t even close to a positive, but it could very well be the least-bad game to lose of any on the 2010 schedule.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
