thoughts on TCU
Just curious to see what people's thoughts on TCU are. I think they have some outstanding young runningbacks and im my opinion they were the most physical team on both sides of the ball that I watched play this weekend. I was impressed with how they played and the numbers they put up. They held Oregon State to 72 rushing yards I believe, and people thought they wouldnt be able to stop the running game of Oregon State.

Big XII Possibility????
This is something that I would really like to see happen… bring TCU into the Big XII to replace CU/NU. Maybe court CSU . Although this would not bring in much out of state talent I think it would strengthen the conference as they would move in as one of the top three imediately and help to continue the Conference Championship Game.
Just a thought…..
The argument against TCU has never been about their football ability
It’s all about the TV markets and fan loyalty. Dallas metroplex is already covered by the current BIG12 teams (Texas, OU), adding TCU is sort of investing in an area with diminishing returns. Also, did you see how empty that stadium was? They only brought about 60k into the stadium and this was their game of the year. And TCU is notorious for never selling out their home games either. The football is great, aside from that they aren’t attractive financially, or so I’ve been told all summer.
True
They have a top notch program ability wise (for now) but they are not a BIG XII caliber school. They don’t have a lot of students or a lot of fans. They don’t bring anything to the table financially as far as TV viewership is concerned. If you can’t sell out a nationally televised night game when you are a top ten team you have absolutely no business being in the BIG XII.
OU SUCKS!!!!!!
Moneys' not everything
My thoughts are not based on monetary gains that would be reaped with the inclusion of TCU. My interests are strictly about the improvement of the competition in the Big XII.
Baylor, KU (until recently) ISU were/are not big contributors in the revenue dept either.
UT has its riches, TV, merchandise, name recognization and the additional 1-3 mill a year they might see in return from partnering up with a USC type of program seems very negligible. Besides, who of that caliber could you try to get? You may be able to lure away some talent or even get into the homes of some of these kids that you would never have attempted too before, but does the money really make us a better team?
TCU seems to have the same problem we do…not much competition, excluding Boise State
Unfortunately the SEC has the best or most competitive league with probably the PAC/Big 10 in second. Besides Texas and ou who is left that would have a chance at a January bowl game? OK State? The perennial under achievers? I want and believe the tougher your conference is the better your team will be.
I’m curious, if you could bring in two additional teams who would it be? Of course academics, regional relationships should apply. This is question is focused more on football than the other sports.
Thanks
I added Fresno State to the poll because they really are the first non BCS team to be competative. Remember our Nation Championship season, Fresno State nearly beat USC at USC that season. Fresno plays a good non conference schedule each year. But yea I think it would be cool to have TCU in the big12 , however I agree with you about the money thing. Dallas/Ft Worth should really be supportive of there team. They are playing really hard and seem to get better every year.
Why would Big 12 do this?
I do not think Texas and OU are ready to share the revenue at this point. You have 10 teams sharing and if one or 2 more added, the amount going to the existing schools goes down. From a cash point of view – do not see this happening.
why do people want tcu to go to the bcs bowls over boise or fresno state.
TCU being good does nothing for us but take recruits away.
My thought is, it keeps them in-state. It makes me sick seeing home grown talent going out of state. Dont get me wrong I’m glad the kids are able to get rides elsewhere but it just eats me up when we lose our kids to some school in in the far west or north east. Friends dont let friends go to ou…. anybody know the time????
it's 11:59 Texas time and OU still sucks.
I can’t believe I just did that.
