I'm in law school there.
I like Lubbock a lot. It’s big enough that it has everything you need, it’s small enough that there’s no traffic, and the people couldn’t be nicer (undergrads when it comes to football notwithstanding).
"It's all bullshit, and it's bad for 'ya." -George Carlin
Wow.
I don’t know if I have ever talked to anyone that actually liked Lubbock.
Good luck in law school. My advice is get out of there as fast as you can. :-)

My wife went to med school there,
and she loved it. She’s a little weird, though. I always hated going there to visit. Everything is some shade of grey or brown. No offense, lnghrn53
I don't want NO PART of yo' tired ass country club, YA FREAK BITCH!
My cousin was recruited by Tech. When he got back from the visit, he called and said he really like the school. I asked him if they had let him spend any actual time in the city of Lubbock. Of course, they didn’t. How would they get any recruits signed if they sent them into the city? I offered to send him back on my dime so he could spend some quality time at the Prairie Dog Farm and all the other great attractions around metropolitan area. He ended up at another school…thankfully.

Is a pile of cow manure on a dairy farm
I imagine Lubbock is like central Illinois,
where I spent 4 years in the Air Force. It was too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and too windy all year round. I recall once we had a dust storm and a rain storm on consecutive days, and I had to drive through both to get to and from a softball tournament. But I understand, whether in law school or med school, you go where you get accepted. We can’t all wind up in Hawaii.
"Only angry people win football games." --DKR
Summers are some of the best in the state, IMO
Very mild comparatively (higher altitude and whatnot). Yes, cold in the winter. Severity of wind and dust storms is drastically overrated.

Anymore news in the coaching replacements?
As much as i don’t want the bowl season to end. I am anxious about the new hires specially when i turn on the TV this morning and i hear on ESPN that Charlie Wies is going be the OC at Florida
Wies is an idiot if he goes from an NFL job to a college OC. Maybe he was going to get canned? The Chiefs have done pretty well this year, haven’t they?
Inside Texas is saying that the new coaches will be in place by the spring semester, announcements coming next week. At least that is the impression that the UT recruits/commits have.
What we have here is a failure to execute.
Alabama has held MSU to -61 yards rushing.
Now back to only -48.
Cousins has -56 by himself.
Whatever MSU had coming into today, it is gone with the wind.
MSU just scored at the 5:45 mark, just 49-7.
The margin is a surprise to me.
Alabama is a very good team, but I thought MSU would give them a better game.
What we have here is a failure to execute.
I expected Michigan State to lose and lose big
I thought they were a pretender and over-ranked this whole season.

I’ve seen some info that Miles is interested in the Michigan job if Rodriguez is fired, which would open up the LSU job. Pelini is considered a coaching prospect if that happens.
That should annoy the Cornwhiners…Imagine that Pelini’s dream job isn’t in Nebraska.

I still wonder if Bama laid down for Auburn
that game’s outcome was just baffling, when Auburn had a total of -7 yards in offense, as of mid-late third quarter!
I think it's a little too conspiracy theory-ish for that to have happened
Those two schools absolutely hate each other from everything I’ve gathered.

Whoever said laughter is the best medicine had clearly never tasted Scotch.
why would you do that?
1. they rooted against us last year
2. they think they are the best program in the state
3. they think Gary Patterson is the best coach (yea then you wake up)
4. they are wusses who are going to (of all the BCS Conferences) the BIG EAST
Those are all great reasons.
They just didn’t root against us last year, they beat us in baseball regional.
This year they are one of the better programs in the state.
Patterson is a damn good coach.
The Big East is its own poison. I don’t really care.
Maybe I just like horned toads. Them and the Progresso Red Ants.
they said we dont deserve to be in the Title game last year and they cheered for Alabama
they still have a program that isnt near the prestige of Texas
and Patterson hasent won anything that matters in his entire career and he couldnt carry Mack Brown or Nick Saban’s playbook
i just have a hatred of TCU lol
comes from living in North Texas and hearing nothing but how great TCU is
Yeah, the press was over the top and so were their fans.
My interest is if they can back up their boasts.
I do have some affection for purple and none for red teams.
I have known
several TCU alums for a number of years. Most of them are pro-Texas, in any form, especially in last year’s BCS debacle game.
Perhaps they were the minority. We (BIG ? fka Big 12) had the opportunity to invite them w/ Cornholers & Coloradoans fleeing to greener pastures. We didn’t make any moves. Don’t blame them, this is America.
I watched the Rose Bowl & you’re spot on about Mack Brown’s playbook! I noted their offensive running plays didn’t involve running sideways 10 yards before turning it upfield. And blockers continuing to make blocks downfield instead of just standing around. And a Defense stopping a powerful running attack. Doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen past 2 years.
I’m enjoying watching Penn St. keep up with all that SEC speed.
What we have here is a failure to execute.
That is the only game I'll get this weekend; glad it is a damn good one.
I think Penn State proved against Miami back in the day with 5 INTs they can handle some speed.
Florida pick six finishes off JoePa, 37-24.
Big 10-2 indigestion continues. Realignment is not going to help them at all in the football department.
next year guys the announcers will be saying
“You are looking live at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena where the Longhorns of the University of Texas are fighting for redemption”
bank on it
Amazing scene
Safe to say I will never miss attending a Rose Bowl that Texas is playing in. Pretty wild that we were there just last year. Goodness gracious the wheels totally came off.
Here’s to a new year.

Wisconsin first play was blocked so beautifully! The playside guard helps double the nose then slides to the second level to neutralize the LB. The playside tackle handles the DE. And the playside receiver blocks two TCU defenders. Just beautiful! I want!

Yep, TCU defense built to stop the spread. Wisconsin defense built to stop the run.

The logo/sign for Hill's Cafe
It’s been a South Austin staple for years and years. Great restaurant, and when I was in school they held the “KVET Free Texas Music Series” on Wednesday nights. The ball passed the goal line. Should be a touchback. Doesn't matter where their feet are in college.
That is correct. Surprised Musberger did not know the rule.
How many times does this man need to see this play in college before he gets it right.
I'm very disappointed that Chryst has relegated Clay to short-yardage back

When did the Fiesta Bowl become a New Years day game? I remember the last time we were in it against tOSU it definitely was not at this premiere time slot.
"It's all bullshit, and it's bad for 'ya." -George Carlin
since Fox was outbid for the Fiesta/Orange/Sugar Bowls by ESPN
ESPN/ABC used to only carry the Rose Bowl (per tradition), but has exclusive control of everything BCS now.
I know about the contractual issues with who gets the bowls
I just couldn’t remember whether Fox put the Fiesta Bowl on on New Years in the last couple of years or whether it was an ESPN change. I assume it’s the latter, then?

So goes HS football in that area – so goes TCU

Maybe like 9-3 suck, but the running backs and enough of the O-line and D returns to ensure a top 3 finish in the MWC. I think 2012 will be an absolutely monster season for us though.

Hey you're entitled to root for who you want.
It was a well played game all around and TCU definitely took this game. They deserve the win for sure. In the big picture it really doesn’t effect Texas so…
It seems that the intraconference rooting is especially strong within the SEC and PAC-10
the former thinks it’s the greatest, and the latter has an inferiority complex. Anyone else notice this?
how funny would it be
if a title game spot comes down to a one-loss TCU team and an undefeated non-AQ. Will they do the “we’re in a BCS conference” campaign?
At least had ONE Texas team represent well in the BCS
Lets see a UT – TCU NC in 2013
Agree Completely
What an accomplishment for Coach Patterson. Basically he took Macks, Aggie, and Stoops leftovers – worked at a University with no real resources to offer, and built one of the finest teams in the nation. Hat tip to TCU.

I would think those will be obstacles to sustained greatness, despite Patterson
Congrats to the Frogs
Just like Colt at Texas, TCU will sorely miss Andy Dalton, a 4 year starter. Very hard to compensate for the leadership loss that goes out with him.

You play the odds. Recruiting 5 stars invariably gives you the best chance in my opinion, especially on defense. You need speed and talent on defense. I agree though, you can find a lot of scrappy skill guys on the offensive side. But you do not stop recruiting the best players.
That was foolish. Take your points, Huskies.
Leach foolish. You may not get another chance. You took 5 minutes off the clock, you could have had 3; now you die.
OU is hell on wheels the first quarter or so, with hurry up and intimidation.
You get what you can.
UConn is already in too deep
They have to match OU blow for blow or the morale is gonna go in the tank. The middle is probably gonna close up now that UConn had some success with that. If they had any chance to upset OU, they needed that TD. It’s basically over now, barring turnovers.
The FG would have been the morale booster.
You give your kids a reward, however small, and something to play for the rest of the game. You don’t give away your scoring chances.
Ok I suppose it would help "stop the bleeding"
but OU’s not going to be kicking FG’s
No, but you don't let your team get swamped
like Leach did in ‘08. Fumbles, INTs, blocked kicks, injured people, any number of things can change a game dramatically. But if you’re way down, you’ll use most of your gas just get back close. Stay close, if you can, take every little crumb and keep playing as high a level as you can.
Sould have hired the S&C couch from "Zulu Dawn"
Get their medicine right
Zulu Dawn - good drugs
Made them feel invincible against the British

My boyfriend did not win money because they didn’t cover.
Why don’t you blame Hopkins Horn and whills instead?
Whoever said laughter is the best medicine had clearly never tasted Scotch.
Because I have breasts or because I like Notre Dame?

I'm just kidding you :-)
Whoever said laughter is the best medicine had clearly never tasted Scotch.
ha
technically we have a two-toned blue living room/dining room and a pale yellow bedroom. The blue and gold are not together.
Whoever said laughter is the best medicine had clearly never tasted Scotch.
well ok as long as they arent together i guess its ok
quick question for you. since you are at law school figured you would know this. is it possible to get a Law Degree specializing in Constitutional Law?
And sorry, Em
People ask you shit about law school, and I seem to have a bad habit of chiming in.

no, it's cool
I don’t have a monopoly on law school info :-)

Haha, well met, Btw, your new sig is making me thirsty
Want a glass of The Macallen, and I don’t have any :-(

what lnghrn53 said
law schools tend to not offer many if any specializations. But you can certainly take a bunch of con law classes and “specialize” that way, even if the school doesn’t offer an official one.
Whoever said laughter is the best medicine had clearly never tasted Scotch.
I do not
But, just for the record, the vibe I’ve gotten is that most do offer some sort of certificate programs for “specialization,” but for the most part, you don’t really “specialize” until you practice in a specific field.

i see
i just find the Constitution naturally interests me so i figure if i can ever go to law school what better to specialize in?
Tread carefully, Horns102591. :-) nt whills

Or 10-7 with a bowed up UCONN D effort after the FG.
Gotta give Edsel a little leeway. First big post season game.
It always is.
Tech is much better at it – they take a fateful excuse – but OU needs a lot more discouragement. nt
Some life for Connecticutt? Maybe but you can't rely on those kind of plays to win a game
Hope they can get some offense going
My point is not about the scoring per se.
It’s about keeping your kids in the game psychologically…even for the least of teams, good things can happen. You just never know.
I was just about to turn the game off
but now I’m watching

Anyone keeping an eye on the hockey game? nt whills

Still a poll
Did Stoops use the scare or paranoid speech?
Once or twice in Big East games
They are solid but very limited…in every way
Big12-2 in the bowl games
I have to admit I have not really been pulling for the Big 12 this year in the bowl games. I did have the pleasure of quietly pulling for TCU at a Wisc. football watching party today. Very confusing. Do I pull for Florida to beat the big 10 or against florida. Overall, the big 12 and big 10 have sucked this bowl season. SEC dominating. Really bad day for big 10 today. I can’t root for the OU team since I would like them to lose to the overmatched Uconn team.
Frazier stumbles for a 1st down
at least they have sustained drives so far.
I wish Matt Millen did not exist. nt whills

OU converts a tough first down
game might start to get ugly
UConn almost sprung one on the KO
Sadly the returner happened to be white (I kid, but the kicker did catch him…)
That looks so shopped, but I really hope it actually happened. nt whills.

Uconn FG attempt...and right down the middle
20-10 OU
UConn showing some pride
I have hope that UConn will pull it off and let me keep using this picture

undefeated in Sun Belt play
Stoops - I love the guppie gulps he does after interviews
Like he is grasping for air
Love how OU is in a total lose-lose situation
they’re up 20-10 at halftime, and the main question is how are they only beating UConn by 10?

I noticed that too. The reporter lady said "What do you need to sort out to get back on track" (with a 10 point lead mind you)
He had to pause for a second like (wtf, WE are winning by 10!) than gave a coach speak answer
I would like to see UConn make this close
if only to get some more Stoops-freak-out-reaction
Silver lining to not be in a bowl game this year?
We would be playing this type of team
Halftime entertainment

but most importantly because we play the popular theater improvisation game “Matt Millen, Home Improvement Expert.” He thinks asbestos is fine for your child’s nursery
Don't know if anyone really cares
But, the Winter Classic is a hell of a hockey game over on NBC with 10 min to go in regulation.

Over at EDSBS
Naw.
I mean, I haven’t had to explain to you that this should more appropriately be called a massacre than a football game.
My mom flipped me off when I said "So, I guess there’s no more football games today, huh?"
OU takes an INT to the house 34-10 OU
I now declare this game “Ugly”
Well
I guess they plan on trying to keep it somewhat interesting.

Millen telling Demarco Murray to get up and go for extra yards
one problem he just got his lights knocked out with some helmet-to-helmet….
Todman has some running room now
keep giving him the ball. He’s your best bet right now
nice toss to the FB, UConn putting together a nice drive
feel a turnover coming sadly
This would be REAL interesting if it wasn't for that pick 6. nt whills

Sean "Landry Jones has not won over the OU fan base, which is hard to believe"
not that hard to believe
UConn can't win this
Even with the mistakes OU has made and will likely continue to make, the difference in athleticism between the two teams is painfully obvious. As long as the Land Thieves just don’t implode completely they can plain “out-athlete” UConn to get the win.
"It's all bullshit, and it's bad for 'ya." -George Carlin
UConn is really bad...
But i guess they are in a BCS bowl and we are watching from home…., btw just saw in NFL Network that Charlie Weis will be coach Boom Offensive Coordinator. I guess Mack is waiting for all bowls and NFL playoffs to end so he can choose his OC.
Sad….
it's the classy thing to do you know
and Mack is all class

see you all next year in the RRS
The Fiesta bowl ended like most of you knew it would but hoped it wouldn't
nothing else to say about it other than BOOMER SOONER!
see ya in Oct, get ready.
