Mack Brown’s first choice for offensive coordinator, I am told by two sources, was Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, and the Texas head coach all but considered it a done deal that the former Notre Dame head coach would join his staff in Austin. However, Weis’ high school senior son had bonded with Longhorn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and had planned to learn under him at Texas until Muschamp bolted to Florida and the entire Weis family followed to Gainesville."

My thoughts exactly
I got physically nauseous last night when I saw that and considered the consequences. Of course, I’m also a hater of the pro-style offense and unbridled arrogance in general, so it’s probably not a surprise I would react that way.

I agree as well...
unbridled arrogance is the perfect way to describe Weis… I couldn’t be happier that he is NOT our OC
Me Three
The thought of him shuffling around the sideline would have made me ill. We dodged a bullet. Thanks Coach Boom.
I think it would have been really good for GG....
but the whole “pro-style” thing is over blown. I could care less. I want a sucessful style offense. What scheme it is doesnt really matter much to me. I do think Harsin was the better hire.

His experience at ND...
shows that not all pro coaches can make the transition to the college game. Pete Carroll seems to be the exception not the rule. Hopefully, Jerry Gray will also be an exception.
Interesting, though I don't think anyone is complaining about Harsin
Don’t kid yourself though. Weis would’ve been a great hire as well, and would’ve been great for recruiting given his NFL success as an OC.

I don't know
Weis knows his football and he knows how to coach quarterbacks, but for a variety of reasons he failed to understand and fit into the college game. Of course, it’s hard to predict how he’d do as an OC rather than a head coach, but I’m not sorry at all that Weis didn’t come to Texas.

How much of the choice was Muschamp.
It sounds like Mack’s first choice was Weis while Muschamp was still the DC/HCIW.
Given that, they must have been infuriated at Muschamp
though they probably aren’t complaining now.

This is scary to think Weiss could have been our OC
He wouldn’t have “fit” or “meshed” at all.
Much happier with Harsinwhite
Thank god Front butt is not here
Thanks Will.

So now Florida has Coach Boom...
and Coach BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. Harsinwhite helps me sleep at night. Weis would just make me drink more.
Don't Kid Yourselves
Weis is a top 3 offensive coordinator in college, maybe the best. Look at his track record in the pros and at Notre Dame. He made Claussen into something he’s not. He would have done wonders with Gilbert. Now, I’m happy we have Harswhite, because of their recruiting ability. They’ll be a much better recruiter than Weis, but if I’m a dad of a top QB prospect, I have to look at Florida because of Weis. That wasn’t the case before…
