A source close to Paul Chryst tells me he no longer is in the running to be the Pitt coach.

Given who Chryst was up against,
this is not surprising.
Now, Mack has a decision to make. I’d say it’s win-win if he’s picking between Chryst and Harsin, and I don’t see any reason to rush into it.
I would like to see the offensive line coach picked yesterday.
lol
I wonder if his offer has been withdrawn? It sounds like he’s not serious about being an OC here.
I'd guess it was withdrawn
Kind of like when a committed prospect visits another school . . . offer withdrawn.
I think, too, Mack asked for a commitment and Chryst (not unreasonably) was unwilling to make the two-(maybe three-) year commitment Mack wanted.
I’m guessing the gameplan now is (1) get the new staff together; (2) hope to hold the 2011 signees intact, with maybe 1-2 signings beyond the current 23 commits; (3) install the new offense/defense, probably more in the summer than the spring, but maybe then too; (4) use the 2011 season as a shakedown cruise, with an eye toward 2012 being a kick-butts-and-take-names season.
Ketch w/ OB.com stated that he was willing to accept the offer but Mack was not ready to accept his acceptance.
ATX
i dont buy that
why would mack offer and than not accept? does that sound like the mack brown you know? cuz it doesnt to me.
he waited too long...
understanding is there was a time limit for a commitment. time ran out, Harsin ran in, game over.
