Keenan Robinson Named Butkus Award Semifinalist
Texas senior linebacker Keenan Robinson was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, given annually to the nation's top linebacker.
While Robinson is second on the team in tackles, he has only one tackle for loss, no sacks or interceptions, and has forced only one fumble, hardly the game-changing his impact he was expected to have this season.

Have to say
This is pretty undeserving. Acho has played much, much better than Keenan, not that I think either deserve national recognition.

Only logical conclusion
Robinson is a fine candidate for this ...
… but, if he is on it, then Acho should be on it as well. I’d say that both are mirrors of each other in ability and in performance. Both have played great for a couple of years now but surely there’s some other monster out there in CFB that will win the Butkus this year – and I hope it’s not that Texas home state traitor LB up at 0U.
It is interesting
that Lewis is still in consideration, because there are Sooners in C&CM who claim this is his worst year yet, and he has been regressing as a player. He has been playing hurt, though.
I tend to look at the glass as half-full with these guys.
I think that Lewis, Robinson, Acho, et al, are all good players, were great last year and are all having sold years this year. Any drop-off w/ Lewis, however, has got to be due to that broken toe thing, but he’s still very solid. And the other guys you listed below are all solid, as well. Being a finalist is deserving for any of these guys – it’s not like it’s an actual award or anything. But, whoever does get the Butkus, they better be a terrific dominating talent that had a great year – ala Bozworth, DJ Johnson, Dat Nguyen, Trev Alberts – and I haven’t yet seen that LB in the Big 12* this year.
Really not trying to rip on Robinson
but how does he make this list, but Shaun Lewis from Oklahoma State does not?
Of the semi-finalists, Levonte David, Courtney Upshaw, and Manti Te’o are the most deserving. Vontaze Burfict has never shown me anything when I’ve watched him play.
Wow
I just don’t see Robinson as one of the 12 best LB in football.
really
the butkus people have not watched a single TEXAS game.there is no way keenan belongs on this list.he has not played as one of the 12 best linebackers in the state much less nation.
