After the NCAA washed their hands of the $cam Newton
deal by whitewashing Auburn, I’m inclined to agree. At least ESPN’s motives are more transparent.

So: A Texas public university and flagship institution aligns itself with an institution that is the undisputed leader at what it does but which maintains questionable ethical standards. Said decision rankles conference mates, threatens the stability of the conference, engenders needless bad blood, and leads to the end (for now, at least) of one of the longest-standing rivalries in college football.
