Second Half Open Thread
Three first half turnovers from our young QBs, including a pick six, combined with a tough afternoon for our young DBs, adds up to an ugly first half on the scoreboard. We were hopeful that Texas was ready to challenge this much more experienced OU team, but it's been tough going for our youngsters.
That's how it goes. Landry Jones looked awful two years ago as a freshman, too. Hopefully the kids dig in, play hard, and have a better second half.

I hate to say it, but we are still seriously talent starved.
I have never seen so many missed tackles… the D is really weak!
The offense appears hopeless, we still need a qb.
Hopefully next years class will give us the boost we need to have a decent season.

OU’s guys are closer to the NFL than they are to high school mentally and physically. It makes a difference.

What I can't stand
Are the mental lapses. The receivers should have been instructed on that time out that if they catch the ball with no shot at the end zone to go to the ground immediately so we could call time and kick the fg.
We've saved all time out
To the end of the half but still get one to use for fg. That just so unacceptable.
Must find a way to:
1. Speed up the offense big time
2. Get to Landry
3. Execute the run and beat down the middle of the OU D Line. (Hit them with Cody)

What the hell is wrong
Recruiting? Why is it that we consistently bring in Top 5 classes and none of these guys turn out to be worth a damn? We take guys like Garrett Gilbert and miss out on guys like Andrew Luck. We take bums like Vondrell Mcgee and Chris Whaley and miss out on studs like Lamichael James, Christine Michael and Jawuizz Rodgers…
Here it is...
The first several games of the season were against immature, simple teams. We won some games and got confused that we have a seriously good team. We seem to have forgotten about this being the “reload” year. We actually thought that with some luck and some solid play, we’d stay close to OU. But we are finally seeing the truth about the team when compared against a REALLY good team…one that is mature, well-coached and disciplined. We are not any of those things…yet. I still have hope and love this team, but they are boys facing men right now and we are deficient in soooo many areas. We do not yet have a truly SMART quarterback. We have talent at running back, but we are really thin on the O’line. Our defense also has some speed and some talent, but they are not a machine.
We are on the high end of mediocre, but that is all. For now.
Right on.
We didn’t evaluate ourselves as honestly as we should have. We bought into the hype too much and we should admit it. We aren’t terrible, we just aren’t ready yet. Big difference.
My source close to the program can beat up your source close to the program!

throwing on all 4 downs when you’re up by 30+ points in the 4th is classy?

On the recruits..........
I want SIZE, SEC SIZE. We seem to have alot of short burners…almost Oregonesque. I want a 300 pound + O-line and at least one 6’4" 220+ Wide Reciever, not tight end. I think thats the way you prevent blowouts. If you don’t match overall talent, you get big enough to 4-yard gain the other team to death a la Alabama. In the 2nd half four yards becomes 10-12
I'll give you that, and they did look good against Wisconsin
But I think overall smaller/faster lately seems to get negated by bigger stronger
Actually the Hales, Goodwin and Monroe trio reminded me more of the Gators with Bert Emanuel, Jacquez Green, etc.

I think the skill positions players will for the most part pan out. Greg Davis never utilized individual talents of those recruits, Harsin will.
