Bevo's Roundup: Just One Story

Bdr_header_medium

There is only one story I want to post today.

Star-divide

One of the first items on the Big 12's agenda after ousting Dan Beebe as commissioner was agreeing to equally share revenue from the conference's major TV rights, a Pac-12 and Big Ten-like deal supplanting one that had rewarded schools based on appearances.

It was a "bittersweet" development for Beebe, who said in a wide-ranging interview with ESPN.com that it was something he attempted two years ago.

But the Nebraska Cornhuskers stood in the way, he said. - ESPN

Texas is not the only player involved in all the conference mess, but we sure get a hell of a lot of blame, don't we?

He also said OU and Texas were against it, but point proven.

I don’t understand how people think Texas is Godzilla to the Big-12’s Tokyo. There’s also a point in the article where he mentions how before the conference had an opportunity to address any grievances from Aggy, they were already in talks with the SEC.

Formation of the LHN was B12 approved. Airing of the KU game on the LHN was B12 approved. High school content wasn’t approved and Texas has agreed not to show any. I must be missing the part where we come in and rule with an iron fist.

My source close to the program can beat up your source close to the program!

I don’t whitewash Dodds’ role in any conference negotiations, but for the national media to continue this Texas as bully narrative is just crap. OU and Nebraska had a hand in all of this and I’m willing to bet A&M did, too. Kansas certainly benefited from this unequal revenue scheme because of their basketball program.

Beebe is trying to make himself look better after he was ousted

Beebe also said he has no idea why he was let go. Really? You lose one-fourth of your conference because you’re an incompetent buffoon, and you don’t know why you were fired?

As for A&M looking to the SEC before “our grievances were addressed”, it should never have gotten to that point. If he had been a competent leader, the minute texas started talking about putting content on the lhn that they hadn’t mentioned Summer 2010, he would have shut them down. If he had been any kind of leader, the Big 12 would be poaching the ACC while debating an expansion to 14 or 16 teams, instead of putting a TCU band aid on things. Beebe was an incompetent buffoon, and now he is blaming everyone else for his own incompetence.

I will say, though, that after texas bitchslapped OU back into their subservient role with the Pac-12 rejection, I was surprised they agreed to fire Beebe. Why fire your stooge when you don’t have to?

Duh.
I will say, though, that after texas bitchslapped OU back into their subservient role with the Pac-12 rejection, I was surprised they agreed to fire Beebe. Why fire your stooge when you don’t have to?

Because the truth doesn’t conform to the goofy Aggy narrative, of course.

The irony in you saying this is staggering
Beebe was an incompetent buffoon, and now he is blaming everyone else for his own incompetence.

This should be the default reply to each and every one of the "Texas is a bully" accusations

“We’re good people. And we do it the right way. And we’ve got 550 kids that we love, and we treat them the way they’re supposed to be treated. And we’re in it for kids. We didn’t do the Pac-12 (because of) the kids. It wasn’t money, it wasn’t anything else. We don’t want to put our kids in airplanes and have them in airplanes half their life going back and forth.

“We’ve worked hard to save the Big 12 twice now. We happen to have a network which, we did, we told everybody for five years that, ’We’re gonna do it, we’re gonna do it, you ought to do it, too’ – you know, we told ‘em. Any time TV came up in a room, we said, ’We’re gonna do our own third-tier network.’ We’ve been open about it. And today they’re looking for reasons, or somebody to blame. A&M’s looking for a reason, and they’ve made their reason that we’ve got a second game on the network. You know? Nebraska had three last year. I’ve not heard one word about that.

“But it’s an issue this year. And I’ve been a bad guy before, and I’m at an age where it doesn’t bother me. We’re doing the right thing. Every decision we’re making, we’re doing the right thing. We’re doing the right thing for the conference, we’re doing the right thing for the kids. If somebody wants to paint us as some awful people, then let ’em paint us.”

Accusation? Do you need me to go line through line on that for you?
We didn’t do the Pac-12 (because of) the kids. It wasn’t money, it wasn’t anything else. We don’t want to put our kids in airplanes and have them in airplanes half their life going back and forth.

If traveling to the Pac-12 was untenable, a stance A&M coincidentally had in Summer 2010, why were you talking to them about expansion in 2010? Why even enter that conversation? Why entertain the idea in Summer/Fall 2011? texas isn’t going to the Pac-12 b/c the Pac-12 won’t let you be a member of the conference and keep the lhn, and texas doesn’t want to give up the lhn. Nothing fancy, just the truth there. Don’t try to paint it off as concern over the kids and travel when it is about money. When someone says it isn’t about money, it is about money, and with DeLoss, IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY.

We’ve worked hard to save the Big 12 twice now.

Stepping back from your plans to go to another conference because of a promised bigger payday (2010) and staying with the conference you are in after another conference rejects you (2011) does not equate to “saving” a conference. Keep spinning it, DeLoss.

A&M’s looking for a reason, and they’ve made their reason that we’ve got a second game on the network. You know? Nebraska had three last year. I’ve not heard one word about that.

I’m quite sure why DeLoss knows why having a conference game on the network was an issue with A&M, and it doesn’t have to do with “looking for an excuse”. As for Nebraska, what the hell is he talking about? Having three games on PPV? That doesn’t equate to a third-tier network.

excellent use of copy and paste

copy and paste this: you are a jackass who makes as many, if not more, idiotic points to anything resembling an intelligent post. You are an idealist who lets his love of farm animals misguide his every waking thought, however many that actually is. I am personally glad atm is leaving because they are pack of whiners who blame everyone BUT themselves regardless of the situation just like you. I hope beyond hope that you never post here again and you continue to disappoint me but somehow I have a feeling like I am not the first nor the last to feel this way. Respond, or not, how you want but it doesnt change anything that I have said. Good riddance tool.

Because being a Texas fan means never having to say you're sorry.

by dukeoforange on Oct 9, 2011 6:29 PM CDT up reply actions

A better use of copy and paste would be this from TXStampede:

“Further, not sure why you come around these parts anymore. I would have assumed you would have already moved down the road given you got what you had wished for. Why don’t you find another place to stir the pot. Your sad sack (yes, purposefully stated) arguments are stale. No one here will ever be dissuaded so please give it a rest. We are done with you and I am asking as a professional courtesy to honor the request.”

I love how these morons keep missing the point.
Stepping back from your plans to go to another conference because of a promised bigger payday (2010) and staying with the conference you are in after another conference rejects you (2011) does not equate to "saving" a conference. Keep spinning it, DeLoss.

When did we not get into a conference we wanted to get into? Anybody who says “2010 and/or 2011” is an idiot. We didn’t want into a different conference either of those times; what we wanted was more time in a (patchwork, if necessary) Big XII so the LHN – which was and continues to be our main goal – could percolate.

If you don’t believe that, then, as I said, you’re retarded. Need more evidence? How about this: Who is the team that’s been added to replace aggie, and who is the next-most-talked-about addition? TCU – and fucking Tulane. Anybody who seriously thinks UT is “in it for the long haul” with the likes of TCU and Tulane is on some serious crack.

Now, if we’d managed to convince Notre Dame and, say, BYU to join us, then I could get on-board with the “we want to stay in the Big XII long-term” argument. But with TCU and Tulane, the only reasoning I can get behind is that we want to slap a band-aid – any band-aid – on the hot mess that is the Big XII and let the LHN percolate for a few more years. Once we see what we have, then we’ll pull the trigger on a conference move – and it’ll be the conference we want, not the one one of our conference mates tells us we can go to or forces us to tag along with.

To err is human...but humans have such low standards.

Jealous MF"ERS

.

and with DeLoss, IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY.

People usually accuse others of their faults. Texas is running over in money and did everything to keep the Big 12 together. Your school and Nebraska ran away for the money. They didn’t consider their alumni, except the rich one’s like our insane governor, when they created a road schedule of thousand mile games or rivalries that have been going on for nearly a hundred years. No sir they flew to the southeast for $$$ and their idiocy that TAM is on a level with Texas.

You have been UT’S lil’ bitch for decades, now it is time to get a new daddy. TAM meet LSU, you will be their new bitch..

Tom Osborne posturing?

If Beebe’s statements are accurate, then TO’s statements earlier this year

http://www.chron.com/sports/article/Osborne-says-Big-Ten-place-to-be-for-stability-2151348.php

certainly make him look like a slimy hypocritical weasel. On the other hand, why would he make such statements when he would have known that the facts would eventually surface? I guess he did not directly claim that NU left because of unequal revenue sharing, but he certainly implied it.

by BurntOrange&Blue on Oct 9, 2011 5:32 PM CDT reply actions

Nebraska was always a better fit geographically for the Big 10 and Osbourne was never happy that Texas forced them to recruit players that could actually read and not commit felonies.

He just used this as an excuse so that NU would be blamed for realignment shake up that seemed on the horizon.

I don’t fault Osbourne because he is a political tool. I do blame the national media for this stupid narrative.

No way is Texas the lone "bad guy" in this

As you all stated, absolutely it was a combo, yes Texas,OU,Nebraska and i’m sure A&M had something to do with the issues. But take whatever Beebe has to say with a grain of salt. He’s a disgruntled ex-commissioner. And he was bad for all that to let things get as far as they did. Look how much foward the B12 has lept in the short time he’s been gone, bringing in TCU and such…it’s a pretty telling tribute to Beebe’s inept leadership
