Legitimate question
Would Texas fans trade David Ash for Chuckie Keeton, a 2* recruit from Cy Creek in Houston?
The Utah State QB is 1,200 passing yards, 60.9% completion percentage, 6.9 YPA, 11 TDs, 2 INTs. He’s also rushed for 283 yards and 4 TDs. That includes their season opener against Auburn, where he threw for 213 yards and rushed for 2 touchdowns.
I wouldn't
but then Im a lot smarter than you are.

Texas missing on Austin Seferian-Jenkins is bothersome
Mack “Your too big to be a tight end”
Another missed player evaluation? So far he’s “hauled in 26 balls for 377 yards and four scores.”
ATX
Where does that Mack’s quote come from? As far as I remember, he was recruited as a tight end.
In Mack Brown We Trust!
That was the discussion not a direct quote. Austin did not want to be OL he wanted to be a tight-end.
ATX
So, you came up with an imaginary and false “discussion.” We recruited him as a TE, and not OL.
In Mack Brown We Trust!
Here is someone else that heard the same thing I did.
You are probably wondering why he was able to get such high recognition from some of the biggest scouting sites in all of college football. Well I will tell you why he is so good that he could decide to go any school, only turning down schools like Texas because they said he had to be an offensive lineman.
ATX
AS-J was never a "miss" for Texas
He never had any intention of going anywhere but Washington. I can’t blame the Texas staff for not being able to pull him in.
That's not how I remember it...he was pretty high on Texas to my recollection.
Maybe GBR can way in.
Austin’s quotes from previous posts on BON.
“I’m down to Texas and Washington, those are my final two. I’m going to visit Texas in August for two days and I think there’s a good chance I’ll get an offer.”
Texas would be at the top even though they haven’t offered. They’re pretty far up there and they have a really good program. I’m talking to coach (Bruce) Chambers a lot now. It’s really exciting for them to recruit me and they have a really good school and they run a similar offense to my high school that I run right now so it would be an easy transition for me.
ATX
($)
Seferian-Jenkins is a 6-foot-7, 250-pound tight end from Gig Harbor, Wash., who said it would almost be a “dream scenario” if Texas offered.
ATX
I'm too sick to do any further digging
But here is a quote eluding to what I’m saying:
Then, in a surprise move, AS-J committed to Washington during an announcement ceremony and made some ill-considered comments that basically amounted to stringing Texas along throughout the process in order to draw more attention to Washington, the school he said he had been locked in the whole time.
His quote was something along the lines of using the Texas offer to bring attention to “U-Dub”.
From the same article
Texas reportedly told him that they thought he would end up at offensive tackle, a position he’s not particularly interested in playing.
Does it really matter anyways…it is what it is.
Feel better! I’ll concede so that you don’t feel like you need to do more digging.
ATX
There was some debate
About where ASJ would end up, but I’m pretty sure that Texas offered him as a TE, he just opted to stay close to home, help rebuild the UW program.

David Ash may not be the savior of the Texas program.
He is a highly touted recruit, but he’s a Greg Davis recruit. I wanna see what Connor Brewer can do next year. Last time I checked, that Kellen Moore guy up in Boise is pretty stinking good. Here’s to hoping we didn’t whiff on another QB recruit.
Harsin developed Moore
But he revealed a couple weeks ago that he wasn’t high on the kid after a camp. It was actually current Tennessee DC Justin Wilcox who convinced Harsin to take a chance on Moore.

Our current QB's are a product of missing on Gilbert
Neither of these guys were supposed to start, that was going to be Garrett. He was after all one of the highest rated recruits that the Longhorns have ever signed. Too bad he sucked..
I knew it!
I knew that at some point it would be Gilbert’s fault that Ash and McCoy haven’t done well. I’m sure he’s to blame for all of our injuries too. Damn that Garrett Gilbert!
