Texas Volleyball Earns Overall #1 Seed in NCAA Tournament

Bumped. Thanks for the update, and Hook 'Em!  --PB

The NCAA Volleyball tournament field was announced Sunday and Texas Volleyball received the overall #1 seed.  The Longhorns will host the 1st and 2nd rounds this weekend at Gregory Gym.  On Friday they will face Texas State and on Saturday they will face the winner of Michigan State & Arizona.

A few thoughts on the bracket and Texas' tournament draw after the jump.

We need a good crowd at Gregory this weekend as typically the first and second rounds average around 1,700 fans.  A full Gregory at 4,000+ is a much better environment.  Both Michigan State and Arizona have upsets over national seeds this season.  Michigan State defeated Illinois and Arizona defeated UCLA twice.   Tickets are available here.

Texas avoided the regional of death in Hawaii.  The Pac-12 Champion, USC, and the Big 10 Champion, Nebraska, were both sent to play host Hawaii.  All three of these teams are ranked in the top 4 in the coaches poll but only 1 will make the final four.  Texas' regional is the second toughest in my mind as they have to deal with 4 time defending champion, Penn State, and one-time #1 ranked, UCLA.  The good news is Texas will go to Kentucky for the regional  and if A&M takes care of business the Wildcats will not even make their regional.   I like our chances to make it to San Antonio.  It will be a tough regional final for sure.
