My only comment is that the "asset" seems to have a history of being a little off

Meh

Asset has been right and wrong on some things. I guess, perhaps, We’ll never actually know, but this isn’t the first time I have heard about him badmouthing to recruits.

The Asset

has been also right alot. A whole lot. The practice reports are what they are, a report on practice. Hopefully game situations allow some things to be shown. Obviously, not all are shown. That’s the game of football, folks.

The Asset

has been right a hell of a lot more than he has been wrong.

In fact, the only thing that I can remember him being wrong about is what plays we wanted to run against Oklahoma.

If you are going to hold that against the Asset…I’m not sure I can help you.

Also wrong about Malcolm Brown's injury status, apparently

I’m sure there have been other things. Anyway, the DW exit issue seems to be one that, like the spin on Major/Muschamp last year, could be significantly tainted by bias. I tend to not really care about this issue, though, because DW is gone one way or the other.

I now despise the fact that I ever liked the kid at all.

If the above is true, that is.

Makes me glad that we don’t go after these high ego kids very often. They are absolutely toxic. So happy we have a Johnathan Gray coming in next year instead of a Trey Williams, whose highlights show nothing but showboating into the end zone every chance he gets.

by HornPossessed on Dec 14, 2011 12:05 PM CST reply actions

Agreed.

Can’t stand the high ego kids.

Didn’t Gray get kicked out of a game this year because of show boating?

by Hippie Killer on Dec 15, 2011 10:50 AM CST up reply actions

He did

but apparently it was a big rival game. Grant it, I’m not justifying showboating, but from everything I have seen about J Gray, is that he’s a good kid with a big heart. I’m of the opinion that he keeps his ego in check.

I think J Gray has swagger as opposed to an Ego

That's a very good way to put it.

Swagger vs. Ego. Hopefully, the former comes with a dose of humility.

by robthecob on Dec 15, 2011 8:39 PM CST up reply actions

I think showboating is showboating in most cases

Including that one. I don’t think Gray had any business doing that, and it just seems to me like a lot of Texas fans will do backflips to justify why it’s different in Gray’s case—just like many did to justify White’s hat charade when he chose Texas.

I completely agree

that he had no business doing that and I certainly wouldn’t do back flips to justify the show boating. However, there is no evidence before that game that he’s ever showboated before. If he does pull that crap here, I suspect that it will be quickly gone. Mack doesn’t run that type of program and I wouldn’t expect him to start.

I hate the hat thing. It’s so stupid.

It is so self-aggrandizing ...

… and a direct slap in the face of the coaches who recruit them. It’s juvenile to the coach who eventually gets ‘em & it’s super-disprespectful to the coaches who have busted their tail to unsuccessfully recruit him. It’s fun for those kids & their families but it’s a farce to the rest of us. I’m hoping that, behind the scenes, most of these 18-year-olds at least call all their recruiters with the good/bad news prior to the hat charade. Maybe that’s too much to ask for a kid with the (media)world at his feet.

I was glad to hear the Cobbs had to be restrained

That’s the kind of fire this team lacked last year. Not that I wanted D White to get hurt, but I like the fact somebody is stepping up in the locker room.

i think its best to refrain from making emotional comments...

…these are just rumors. who knows what happened. for all we know, it might be malicious.
also remember, one of the reasons recruiting for us is so easy is because of how we are as a fanbase. lets not lose that, and bad mouth kids who played for our team, for free, mind you! it will have bad effects for recruiting future stars who might be reading these comments
the fact is white didnt perform well enough, dropped catches and is moving on and i wish him the best because he dawned the burnt orange.
We all forget, these are just young kids who makes mistakes. I made a few stupid mistakes in my time, but i learned and hopefully he will too.

Kids don't come here because we are an awesome fanbase.

We show up late, leave early, can hear a pin drop in our stadium and look at how we treated Garrett Gilbert and even Chris Simms.

I think you are over estimating the allure of our fans.

by Hippie Killer on Dec 15, 2011 10:48 AM CST up reply actions

Disagree

I find the fans in sundresses and cowboy boots very alluring…

My personal favorite

was the freakin ridiculously gorgeous brunette in cut off jean shorts, boots and a Low Cut UT shirt… My goodness how I love Austin.

Agree. Love the chicks.

But, the post isn’t about whether we have hot chicks or not.

It was about our fanbase. You don’t get to pick and choose what part of the fanbase you like. As a whole…we are a shitty fanbase, IMO.

by Hippie Killer on Dec 15, 2011 3:43 PM CST up reply actions

Even though the post wasn't about that ...

Hot Chicks at a UT game trumps anything you could possibly say from this point on.

by robthecob on Dec 15, 2011 8:41 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed.

Don’t Hot Chicks generally trump everything? Put Longhorn football and Hot Chicks together and its like Heaven on earth.

There were rumors

of this yesterday on some message boards. Not sure if they are all coming from the same source or if this is independent confirmation, but it’s concerning nonetheless and would certainly explain the departure.

While is was happy with his commitment during the UA All-America game

he did strike me as a “me first” type, but his skill set was impressive at the time. Too bad that didn’t translate to the next level. Wish the kid the best but sounds like he/we needed a change.

by LonghorninRaiderland on Dec 14, 2011 12:38 PM CST reply actions

Nearly ALL of these kids strike me as "me first" types when they get recruited.

Especially those announcing their college choice on camera. But most of ‘em humble themselves and swallow their “me first” pride as they become part of a team & UT program that is bigger than themselves. If these rumors are true about what happened, I’m sure that DWhite’s actions were rooted in basic frustration that he has underperformed so far. I’ve been surprised at him not being able to get much playing time at a time when the UT WR position is wide-open for contributions. Tons of underclassmen, tons of mistakes. Hopefully, they’ll only get better from here on out. We all hope that’s the case for DWhite too.

If he really was whining and bad mouthing us

You have to admit that he’d make the perfect Aggie.

So very true.

At the very least, he’d make a good aggy FAN.

Sounds to me...

like we got us a grown ass man who isn’t afraid to fight in Cobbs. Haven’t had one of those since Orakpo and Roy Miller where roaming campus.

I like it.

We got a bunch of grown men in this locker room. We got gangsta's.
