TT NIce Debut for Cavs - Cleveland Plain Dealer

Meanwhile, rookie forward Tristan Thompson had a "wonderful" first game, said Scott. Give the power forward from Texas a nice boxscore of 12 points and five rebounds. The 50 percent college free-throw shooter was 4-of-6. He is a relentless runner, jumper and tenacious on defense. He probably should have played more than 17 minutes.

What a great draft pick

Still coming to grips with the fact he is gone. It was very enjoyable watching him progress last year

Heckuva Alot of Stat Stuffing

12 points and 5 rebounds in 17 minutes is very productive in your first NBA game. Kyrie Irving was absolutely horrible in the same game. TT seems to have a certain calm and a quiet confidence.

Change isn't good or bad it just "is". Don Draper of Madmen

TT should have an easier adjustment to the NBA than Irving

TT is a “defense/rebounding/energy” guy. These sorts of players generally adapt pretty well and pretty quickly to the NBA. (And don’t take it like I am trivializing this role. I am not. It is important, and you need players like Tristan to win in the NBA.)

Irving has to handle the ball, which is a fair bit harder to do at the NBA level than in college. John Wall and Derrick Rose (two #1 picks at point guard) didn’t exactly set the league on fire as rookies. But Rose has turned out pretty well, and Wall probably will as well. There is pretty clearly an adjustment phase.

And while Irving didn’t shoot well in his first game out, he at least took care of the ball and had a good assist total and rate.

I am not a huge Cavs fan, I definately pull for them. I have since the Mark Price days. More than anyone, they are the NBA team that I would like to see do well.
