LSU-'BAMA REDUX

Dear BCS,

You suck.

Signed,

Oklahoma State

Rematch-shrematch...REALLY??

I guess we should rename 2011 as the year of the SEC. I think it is a travesty that Oklahoma State will not get the opportunity to play for the title against LSU. What message does this send to other conferences? LSU has earned the right to play for the championship, but why should we see a rematch against Alabama? I would love to see a high-powered offense like OK-State play against LSU's defense, and I am sure I am not alone. We all know the SEC is great, but the Big 12 is no slouch either. I understand that the voters look at each team's 1 loss, and believe that Alabama's loss was to LSU who is a tougher team than Iowa State. Still, I truly don't believe that it is the right thing to do, allowing these two teams a second chance at one another. But, hey, this just sums up an incredibly strange football season altogether.
Prediction: LSU 6-'BAMA 3. Woo-hoo.

Lose - Lose

If Bama wins I won’t consider them the MNC
If LSU wins it doesn’t mean much to beat a team you already played.

This is really jacked up. I would have enjoyed watching Stanford vs. Bama and OSU vs. LSU. Instead, we get a replay of a terribly boring game. I’m passing. I’m sure I will keep track of what is happening but I won’t sit and watch it. I wasn’t able to watch the whole game last time because it was so damn boring.

We're Texas, We're not OK.

In the words of a certain MAN who got screwed

“Makes me wanna PUKE.”

I’m not watching the NCG. I had to turn off “The Game of the Century” sometime around the 2nd quarter to keep from going comatose. Even if it wasn’t going to likely be a (missed) field goal fest, the rematch of two SEC teams just isn’t compelling. To me and most around the country, I imagine, LSU and Alabama are interchangeable.

Obviously,

I am happy for the rematch. I also honestly think LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the country. I felt that way before we played and conditionally afterwards. After OSU stomped OU, taking the season into consideration, especially from November to 12/03, I still believe LSU and Alabama are the two best teams.

I don’t see a strong foundation to such arguments as LSU already won, Alabama had its chance, Alabama lost at T Town, I’m against a rematch, it’ll be boring. These are emotional and too subjective.

I do see a strong foundation for OSU being conference champions and having a stronger resume than Alabama. If you win the AFC Championship, you get to go the Super Bowl, even if you are Buffalo. And OSU did play more ranked teams.

Even then, OSU didn’t play in a conference championship game, thus not proving themselves in postseason play. Also, 2003 Oklahoma didn’t win their conference, nor did 2001 Nebraska win their division. Furthermore, the 1969 KC Chiefs finished 2nd in the AFL West, played in a 4-game AFL playoff, and became the first AFL team to win a Super Bowl. Nine NFL wild card teams have played in the Super Bowl, the first being the 1975 Cowboys, who lost in, for me, the most exciting Super Bowl. Five wild card teams have won, the last being the 2010 Packers, while the 2007 Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in a rematch.

While OSU did play more ranked teams, the best Alabama could do was beat #6 Arkansas, whose only other loss was to #1 LSU. The best OSU could do was beat #14 Oklahoma, who lost to #12 Baylor and Texas Tech, who had a losing season. The worst Alabama could was lose to #1 LSU, while OSU lost to ISU, who could have a losing season.

I don’t defend the BCS system. We could use a +1 or playoff system based upon a combination of conference champions and RPI.

As far as the BCSNCG being a snoozer, there is no guarantee that it will be as low scoring. And if the Big 12 can win more snoozers, maybe it can win more BCSNCG.

Oops!

The former Dallas Texans were the second AFL team to win the Super Bowl.

PS

The BS is what we have now. Winner take all. No co-champions, no matter the results. However, if Alabama beats LSU 9-6 in OT, and OSU clobbers Stanford, I ’d laugh if there is a 3-way tie. Maybe it will accelerate change.
