Fresh out the box -- senior highlights for the newest Texas commit, Clear Springs WR Marcus Johnson. The poor Aggies had a good one, for a second. Too bad for them he's always wanted to be a Longhorn.

I would expect
him to get bumped up to the four-star range when the post-season evaluations come out.

Listed by Rivals
as 6-1, which is probably more accurate.

Great balance and body control
His lateral quickness was impressive.
Not sure about his top line speed, though he outran most players on the film. How does his overall speed compare to our other prospects GOBR?
I agree with that assessment.
My guess for Johnson’s speed is somewhere between 4.50 and 4.55, leaning a bit more to the higher side.

Definitely not burning the defense
All the defensive backs are keeping up if not gaining on him. He’s definitely good at making the defenders in front and to the sides of him miss in this footage though.
TEXAS FIGHT
Agree with the consensus here
Good speed and route running, but not elite in either. Looks to have great hands and body control, evidenced in adjusting to the ball and getting his feet set in bounds. Looks like he’s good in the screen game and has good vision following the blocks.
Of the 4 WR we’re taking, I expect the least of Marcus Johnson early on. If we could get anything out of him…well maybe we’ll be cooking with gas then.

An elusive runner
So the kid looks like he can run with the ball when he gets it in his hands. He had a couple of catches that were moderately hard and showed he had good presence of mind as to how close the sideline was. Not a lot of hard catches — dives, leaps, reach backs — shown in this collection though, it really showcased his running skills. Sort of like the guys here who pray just to have a “game manager” QB, I’m just hoping for receivers who can catch a ball. Not be able to run after they get it, just catch it. We had a lot of drops this year, costing us yards and drives, which made our young QBs look even worse.
