Number of minutes advanced notice Mack Brown had to respond to Muschamp leaving before addressing 2011 recruits sitting down in December. Just heard Mack tell that story, I guess it was earlier today. He said he saw it on the ESPN ticker. Pretty amazing class considering and probably says something about Muschamp.

Personally
I can’t blame Muschamp for the decision that he made. Sure, the timing of it sucked, but with the way the news cycle worked, it wasn’t going to stay under the radar long and that’s what happened. As for going to Florida, who can begrudge him for taking a good job when it looked like Mack Brown was going to stick around for a while. Scratch that, not just a good job, a great job.

The loop
apparently didn’t include Mack. The way he told it was that he didn’t know Muschamp had even interviewed. That was wrong, at least to me.

Not doggin' your opinion
I just think the whole situation goes both ways. Mack did say he wouldn’t do the CIW thing again because the impression was that he wasn’t gonna be around very long and I feel he and Muschamp could have truly had the details hammered out if Mack really wanted to. As much as it seems that Will loves recruiting as well, he was severely hampered in that aspect by the UT CIW NCAA rule. I think Hayzeus over at recruitocosm posted a story once about a source quote or at least a theory about Bob Stoops goading this along by contacting Florida about Muschamp’s probable discontent with the situation. It was good of him I think to leave before what I think was the last big gathering of recruits before signing day. At least Mack got to address them all in one-on-one situations about what happened and would have looked worse imo if Will told them all how much he was looking forward to coaching them and then bolted the next day. Timing was horrible, I admit, but I feel it was more about the timing of the opportunity than Muschamp’s timing for leaving. I don’t think he was necessarily fishing for one at the time.
Two things will never change...Jesus loves us and UT is awesome.
Admittedly old school about this kind of thing
I just think a phone call right after he accepted the position, or right before, would have been a professional courtesy rather than learning from ESPN as recruits were gathering. It must have been an awkward moment for Mack who always seem to treat others with class and respect.
But enough about this, we got a great class and maybe we’ll get to play them in an MNC game.

That would be awesome
to play Coach Boom in the MNC. I do agree with you about the phone call vice ESPN ticker. Also agree about droppin’ it. It worked out for the best me thinks. LaBoomba may leave in 2-3 yrs for a HC job and I can’t blame him, The Jerry Gray hire to me is one of the biggest coups in assistant hiring history. Still can’t believe the awesomeness of the coaching staff hires.
It makes no sense to me (even if it’s all about hype for tv purposes) that UT fell to 5 in the recruiting rankings when their rating avg is only surpassed by Bama’s, barely. Didn’t realize we had 17 ESPN 150 recruits last year. Can’t wait to see how much they (especially Jeffcoat and Hicks) have progressed in one season.
Just for curiosity and being relatively new here, where did the spiritofthefedora name get it’s inspirado?

Given the general lack of decommits
in light of the staff turnover, plus the quality of the staff brought in, Mack could replace David Copperfield at the MGM Grand upon retirement. Mack’s retirement, not Copperfield’s. Copperfield just gets kicked to the curb.

One Good Thing About Muschamp
Other than his bud from our football operations, he did not try to steal any of our committs.

I hate to have to ask, but
pronounce ‘Mykkele’ for me.
We're going to play like we're in a bad mood.
Mack Brown
pronounced it like you would think from the spelling, not like Michael.

Wouldn't it be something that if at 6 a.m. Monday morning
Both Jadeveon Clowney and Cyrus Kouandjio (or Crangrab Kinkajou, as Houston Nutt likes to say) suddenly awoke, screaming at the top of their lungs…
TEXAS!!!!!!!!
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
