According to this post, Diaz had the #7 ranked defense last year with the 2nd hardest SoS.
Might be the most impressive showing according to the metric this article is using.

I've always wished analysis would include points and yards per possession
Teams like Auburn and Oregon obviously had far more defensive possessions that MSU did.
