Just wondering in the big scheme of things, how important is spring practice?  Are major things settled during this time or what?

Common sense tells me that of course its important for conditioning and instilling new concepts etc.. but how about decisions on who will actually start and play for the 2011 team?

I'm asking because if it was that important, wouldn't Mack require the top incoming freshmen like Malcolm Brown and Jaxon Shipley to enroll early so that they can participate?
