Curtis Riser |
DeSoto |
Feb. 13 |
Yes |
Committed to Texas (2/13/11) |
|
2/23: Instant analysis and scouting report. 2/10: Considered the top OL in the state for most of the early part of the process. A mauler in the running game with a nasty streak. Seemed to miss a lot of assignments in a viewing against Leander. Value limited by likely being a guard in college. Speculation increased that he could commit early to Texas after failing to attend LSU Junior Day last weekend, despite growing up a Tiger fan. Presence of several former DeSoto players on Texas roster probably helps Longhorns. |
Kennedy Estelle |

2/23: Texas leads with Estelle, who may take more visits before deciding. However, he father wants him to commit to Texas. 2/10: At 6-7, 300 pounds, he's a rare left tackle prospect, making him important for the class. Athletic in pass protection and running game with good feet for his size. Packs a punch with his hands, but could work on consistently maintaining contact. Only has one year of varsity experience, so he has significant upside. Not planning on making an early decision. |
Michael Starts |

2/23: The Longhorns made a good impression on Starts, who plans on taking more visits before deciding but does not currently have any scheduled. May take official visits in the fall. 2/10: Played defensive end and tight end as a sophomore before playing both ways at end and tackle as a junior. Played almost every snap of every game. Athletic at 6-4, 275 and is a legitimate tackle prospect. A&M is recruiting him as a defensive end. Texas seems to have fallen with him recently, so Stacy Searels probably has some ground to make up. Grew up a Baylor fan. |
Andrus Peat | Corona Del Sol (AZ) |

2/23: Recent addition to the Texas radar. Connor Brewer is reportedly starting to build a relationship with Peat. Older brother is 2010 Nebraska DT commit. Huge prospect at 6-7, 280 and is extremely athletic with feet to play left tackle and make plays at the second tackle. Good motor and aggressiveness. Video. Major national recruit. Will be a long recruitment. Most likely to visit of the OOS prospects. |
Camrhon Hughes |
Harker Heights |

2/23: Lifetime Longhorn fan who is a virtual lock to commit if offered. 6-6, 270. Tackle prospect. Solid player in space and in pass protection. Video. |
John Michael McGee |

2/23: Impressive offer list. Will not attend Texas Junior Day. Considered Oklahoma lean. Value decreased because he is a pure interior prospect at about 6-2, 260. Could be best OL in space in the state. Packs a punch. Would be a take if Texas didn't need tackles so badly. |
DJ Humphries |

2/23: No movement here and there won't be until he makes a visit or officially eliminates Texas. Extreme longshot. 2/10: One of the top tackle prospects in the country. Holds around 30 offers. Recruited by Searels when he was at Georgia. Has some interest in Texas, but would probably not be able to visit until late in the process. On the radar, but a longshot. |
John Theus |
Jacksonville Bolles (FL) |
Will not attend |
Yes | 5% |
|
2/23: One of the top offensive linemen in the state. Older brother was recruited to Georgia by Stacy Searels, who is continuing to recruit the younger Theus. Extreme longshot. |
Off the board -- Greg Brantley (Carthage)
Moving forward -- The most pressing and immediate question regards Camrhon Hughes. With the big Harker Heights tackle basically there for the taking, the Longhorns have to decide how that affects the rest of the class. Kennedy Estelle looks like he might pull the trigger for Texas in the near future, especially if his father gets his way, so Mack Brown may not have to take a tackle just to take a tackle early.
Texas probably needs three more offensive linemen in the class, all of whom will likely be tackles. Taking Hughes makes sense from that perspective and the Longhorns may end up having the flexibility to take Hughes, Starts, Estelle and an OOS star, probably Andrus Peat, the most likely of the that group to seriously consider Texas and the only one who really sounds serious about visiting Austin.
