Myck Kabongo, Findlay Prep vs. Dwyer Open Thread
The third annual ESPN RISE NHSI kicks off Thursday at Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, MD. Of particular interest for Texas fans is the presence of Findlay Prep, led by star point guard Myck Kabongo, a Texas commit who will be debuting in burnt orange this fall for the 'Horns and has a quick turnaround for the 2:00 pm CST game on ESPNU against Dwyer, a Florida high school.
Findlay won the first two NHSI events and is looking to start off another run to the title against the Florida Class 5A champions in Dwyer and two-sport star Jacoby Brissett, who is committed to play quarterback at the University of Florida. Earlier this season, the Pilots were blown out by Kevin Durant's alma mater and no. 1 seed Montrose Christian, the worst loss in program history, and have been plagued this season by slow starts.
A Pilot victory in the quarterfinals would set up at a Friday contest against the winner of the Oak Hill/United Faith game.

The TV in my living room
is out, so I cannot watch and post anymore. And I’m sad.

Turnovers down the stretch that led to easy baskets for Dwyer.
Kabongo never took over the game late when Findlay needed some baskets, instead deferring to his teammates. Not a particularly strong performance from him. Wanted to see more development from him as a scorer.

I was watching the game
I was pretty disappointed. Not because of the lack of playing time, that made sense with all of the traveling.
I was disappointed because when he did bring the ball up, he would dribble to the wing and pass the ball off to another guard. When you have that kid on your team, you have to let him create. I did not understand the lack of an offensive scheme at all.
